Driving fast around Watkins Glen with the McLaren GT4
For you to be quick around Watkins Glen with the McLaren GT4 you’ll want to have quite a lot of traction as well as a very strong front to be fast in the changes of direction.
Moreover, you’ll have to run medium-to-high downforce as it will help you carry lots of momentum in all the medium-speed corners also considering that it won’t affect your top speed too much with such short straights.
Set the front splitter at 0 and the rear wing at 12 and then consider bringing it down to 10 to see if you can handle it and maybe maximize your straight-line speed without hurting the rear stability.
In terms of anti-roll bars you’ll want to be quite soft overall in order to get a good amount of mechanical grip and allow you to easily climb over the kerbs without losing the rear.
The McLaren is usually one of the fastest GT4 cars on the straight so you could focus more on improving the aero balance and mechanical grip.
Having said that, once you’re setup is good enough, make sure you then spend some hours relentlessly practicing and improving your driving technique.
That will get you faster lap times and pay really good dividends in your sim racing career.
