If you’re looking to level up your sim racing gear setup to improve your lap times on iRacing and Assetto Corsa, upgrading your pedals would definetely be a great choice.
One thing that’s sure is that the Hydraulic pedals category is simply on another level compared to load cell pedals.
That’s because, in short, hydraulic pedals offer much more resistance than load cell pedals, and this simply translates into more control and precision while driving.
I indeed have noticed a huge difference once I shifted towards hydraulic pedals a few years ago.
Though the cost is quite a bit higher than most load cell pedals, if you’re serious about sim racing, I’d say they will definetely pay off pretty quickly.
The price per performance is simply much higher when going from load cell pedals to hydraulic ones.
The OBP ESports Pro-Race V2 pedals are a great option if you’re looking to get into hydraulic pedals, as they offer a very good value for the price.
The build quality is excellent and they come with a lot of adjustments that can be made to really dial in your driving experience.
Let’s now go in depth and take a closer look at these pedals.
What’s the material?
The first thing you’ll notice is that the pedals are made of metal and alluminium, which gives them a really robust feeling.
This is definitely a good thing, as it means they will last for a long time.
What’s also great about the metal build is that it provides a lot of resistance and this is something you really need when sim racing.
Are they adjustable and easy to adjust?
Yes, the pedals are easily adjustable and come with a lot of adjustments that can be made.
This is great, as it means you can really fine-tune your driving experience to match your own preferences.
There’s a large range of adjustments available, including:
- Pedal position
- Resistance
- Tension
Though I think the default setup will work just fine to most people.
Is the brake pedal pressure very sensitive?
No, the brake pedal pressure is not too sensitive and this is something you’ll appreciate as it means you won’t have to be too precise when pressing it.
This translates into better car control and ultimately in quicker lap times.
Are they compatible for iRacing and Assetto Corsa?
Yes, the pedals are compatible with both iRacing and Assetto Corsa.
Are they Compatible for PC?
Yes, the pedals are compatible for PC.
Are they Compatible for Xbox and playstation?
Yes, they offer a cable to connect to your Thrustmaster wheelbases which allows you to play on Xbox or Playstation.
Awesome, isn’t it?
Are they easy to use?
Yes, the pedals are easy to use and you’ll be up and driving in no time.
What’s included in the box?
The box includes:
- The OBP ESports Pro-Race V2 pedals
- A guiding Manual
Will they make me faster?
Yes, I think they will make you much faster if you’ll adapt your driving style to it which normaly takes a couple of days.
They offer a much better feel compared to all the other load cell pedals out there and this will translate directly into faster lap times.
Are they durable?
Yes, the pedals are made of metal and alluminium which means they will last for a long time.
Are they worth their price?
If you’re looking to get your first hydraulics pedal set, then yes I think they offer good value for the price.
How much do they cost?
At the time of this review, they cost just over £1000 pounds (£1076), which is not too much when you compare it to the cost of other hydraulic pedals sets ($2k+)
Bottom line:
So, are hydraulic pedals really worth the investment? In short, yes – especially if you’re looking to get into sim racing seriously.
Though they may be more expensive than most load cell pedals, the price per performance of hydraulic pedals is much higher.
If you want to be faster and improve your lap times, the hydraulic pedal will put you on the right track.
In my opinion, I think they are a must have for sim racers as they provide a more realistic feel and help with car control during races.
