Prices
When it comes to racing wheels, you’ll see that prices can range from a low-end $220 steering all the way up to $1,800 as in the case of the Fanatec’s Podium F1.
Wheelbase
As some steering wheels come without an integrated Wheelbase, it’s important to consider that as getting one will cost you extra money.
A racing wheel without a wheelbase simply won’t be able to function so make sure that you always check whether the steering wheel you want comes with one or not. Note that the wheelbase will have to be from the same brand.
Compatibility
For Assetto Corsa Competizione you’ll need the steering wheel to be compatible with both for PC and console unless to run it only for PC.
All the steering wheels on our lists are compatible for ACC though some may struggle to be compatible with the PS5 release, so make sure you still double-check it.
Force Feedback
A great FFB will make a big difference to your performance as it will make the driving feedback way more immersive and realistic so make sure you pick one that has got good Force Feedback.
Paddle Shifters
Paddle shifters will make you feel like a pro as you’ll be able to change gears seamlessly.
As you will see this is something very important as it will greatly improve your performance and give you a competitive edge.
Now that we know what we’re looking for, let’s compare the five best steering wheels for Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Fanatec Podium DD1 F1 Racing Wheel
The Podium F1 is actually the most expensive steering wheel on the list selling for about $1,800.
It comes with an integrated wheelbase which is the Podium DD which is definitely a plus.
This means that you won’t have to worry about buying a separate wheelbase and then integrating it yourself.
Its force feedback and driving precision is just extraordinary with the ability to recreate the feeling of driving a real F1 and GT3 car. Moreover, it’s also compatible with both the PC and PS4.
As long as you’re able to afford it, this piece of engineering jewelry will probably be the best choice for your GT3 races on Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari SF1000
The Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari steering wheel is a great choice for those who are looking for quality at a medium price.
It gives you a great Force Feedback experience and its paddle shifters are very responsive.
The only downside is that it doesn’t come with an integrated wheelbase so you would need to buy one separately which would obviously add to the total cost.
Its cost without wheelbase is $349 while the extra wheelbase will cost you between $400 and $500 depending on which one you choose.
With its good-looking shape, this steering is an awesome GT3 wheel alternative to the Fanatec’s Podium while still paying nearly one-third of it.
Logitech G29
The Logitech G29 is the most affordable choice on our list, selling for only about $250.
Even though it’s the most affordable, it still gives you a pretty good driving experience with its Force Feedback.
It also comes with an integrated wheelbase and paddle shifters.
It’s compatible with both PC, Xbox and PS5 which is great news for those who want to use it on any other platform.
The only downside is that it’s not as durable as some of the other wheels on our list and it might break down sooner. Though if you look after it carefully, it could still last you over 5 years.
Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X
Next on our list comes the Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X which is one of the most recent releases from Fanatec.
This steering wheel will set you back $369 though it doesn’t come with an integrated wheelbase.
In fact unless you’d owned one already, you’d have to pay an extra $1,200 for a Fantec DD wheelbase as you can’t get one from any other brands.
Going back to its features, the driving feedback you get from the steering in Assetto Corsa Competizione is just insane and is way better than the G29.
The force feedback and level of realism is on par with the Fanatec Podium F1 steering wheel but for a cheaper price tag.
Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel
Last but not least we’ve got the Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel which is the second cheapest wheel on our list.
Despite selling for only $189, it will still need an additional Thrustmaster wheelbase in order to function properly.
Since a Thrustmaster costs around $400, then the actual cost will be about $590.
Despite its relatively cheap price, it’s one of my favorites since it feels good while driving ACC, has got proper paddle shifters and looks awesome too.
To me, this is probably the best option for those that wanted a professional option without spending a fortune.
What’s the best racing wheel for ACC?
The Podium F1 from Fanatec. Its got impressive force feedback, amazing ACC driving precision and is compatible with both the PC and PlayStation. If you’re able to afford its $1,700 price tag, you’ll be sure to have a great time while winning online races in ACC.
