What are the best steering wheels for Assetto Corsa?

We shall now proceed with the criteria of each of these areas, as there are some essential points we still have to cover before the full scale comparison is done.

Prices

when we talk about racing wheels and their prices, one could find that a steering wheel may cost anything from a budget low $200 to $1,800 as is the case with Fanatec’s Podium F1. The variance of such a price point is mainly brought in by the addition of extra features, how accurate the force feedback is as well as quality of materials that one uses. Another important aspect that will play into the price, is whether the wheel comes with pedals attached or should you only buy the steering wheel.

Wheelbase

When it comes to wheelbases make sure to note that most of the steering will not come with a bundle and therefore will require buying a separate wheelbase from the same manufacturer. That is the case for many wheels including Fanatecs Thruatmasters which will need an extra wheelbase purchase in order to use the steering

Compatibility

Assetto Corsa, it is possible for you to play the game on both PC & Console so there we shall enhance the list on which devices can work with each whee

Force Feedback

For racing games FFB is considered as one of the core things, especially when buying a racing wheel, as it is what would provide the closest feel to driving a real race and indeed a racecar.

More expensive wheels will tend to produce a better FFB, while simpler ones will be less advanced.

Paddle Shifters

Another feature that you may wish to consider are paddle shifters. Most racing wheels available today have this feature, allowing the user to change gears without ever taking their hands off the wheel.

It should be noted however that not all paddle shifters are the same as some may be more engaging than others.

That being said, let us now examine more closely any of these five steering wheels.

Fanatec Podium DD1 F1 Racing Wheel

The Podium F1 is actually the most expensive steering wheel on the list selling for about $1800.

The really obvious and main reason why the price tag is so high is because it is one of the premium wheels in the market for it is made of the finest materials.

Fanatec Podium Direct Drive Wheel Base which is how this unit gives such a great force feedback is also included.

For PC and Play Station users this is vey compatible device given that an adapter is bought for the PS5.

The wheel in itself has some other different adjustments that can be done including rotation angle, sensitivity, and centering.

Also included is a set of Fanatec’s Podium Advanced Paddle Shifters, which are probably the best out there.

Someone looking for a steering wheel for Assetto Corsa should be looking no further as this is probably the best option out there despite its price.

Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari SF1000

The Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari steering wheel however is another good option if you are looking for something of quality yet around mid price.

The cost without a wheelbase is $349, however, a single wheelbase would be additional between $400 to $500 based on which one you buy.

The wheel is compatible with PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox one and PC.

Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari SF1000

This product also has quite a good rating on Amazon at 4.7/5 stars.

In terms of force feedback however, it doesn’t have the precision of the Fanatec Podium but it does a great job with feel of driving still.

Logitech G29

On our list, the Logitech G29 is the cheapest option retailing at just $245.

Also, it comes with a built in wheelbase which is very good in relation to its pricing.

Many gamers prefer it since the wheel is compatible with the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Logitech G29

Another disadvantage of the G29 would be the rather poor quality of its paddle shifters but that is what you can expect from a wheel in its price range.

If you don’t want to spend too much but still have decent quality then you should look at the Logitech G29.

This wheel comes at a fraction of the price of the Podium F1 which makes it a good purchase for someone who doesn’t wish to shell out too much money.

Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X

The Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X is the next model on our list and it is one of the newest models which has been released by Fanatec and is quite popular as well.

Fanatec ClubSport retails at $369 but is over priced because there is no wheel-base included.

If you add in the base’s $1200 price tag it will make $1569 or 1300 euros in prices overall.

Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X

That being said, the ClubSport Formula V2.5 X is an excellent option for Fanatec users who already have a supported Wheelbase

As for the compatibility, it works well with PC, PS4 and Xbox One which is great for those looig to race Assetto Corsa on multiple devices.

Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel

Wheel Lastly but not least we have the Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel which is actually the second cheapest wheel on our list. Its selling price is only 189 but it will require you to purchase an additional Thrustmaster Wheelbase 400 in order to use it. It’s got some really good paddle shifter as well as FFB making it look and feel very realistic and immersive to drive. The TM Open Wheel is compatible for racing Assetto Corsa with PC, PS4 and Xbox One however its main selling point is the price. Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel

So, if you are looking for a cheap entry level option then Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel is definitely worth considering

What’s the best racing wheel for Assetto Corsa?

The Podium F1 from Fanatec. Its high price tag is justified with the incredibly realistic force feedback that it provides as well as the high quality materials in its construction. If you are serious about setting purple sector and finish establishing dominance in online races within Asseco Corsa, then this is the steering wheel for you.

Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel

Any other suggestions? In particular, please notice that the Logitech G29 is a better option, because it is not expensive and gives a little bit more realistic driving than Podium F1. But an F1 experience is not to be expected.

Conclusion

So, as it has been pointed out, there are many awesome racing wheels available today, actually working quite well with the game Assetto Corsa.

Most importantly – what you want and how much you are ready to pay for it.

But if you want to get something a little more advanced, but then be prepared to pay quite a lot more.

While on the other side of the coin if you are starting today then there are some very good basic options and they are not very expensive.

You should therefore, take into consideration all the available options that you can have before making a purchase decision.
