  • Fanatec Podium DD1 F1 Racing Wheel – Most expensive

  • Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel – Low price

What are the best steering wheels for Assetto Corsa?

Having said that let’s quickly have a look at what we’ll have to consider before comparing each of these steering wheels.

Prices

When it comes to racing wheels, you’ll see that prices can range from a low-end $200 steering all the way up to $1,800 as in the case of the Fanatec’s Podium F1.

The main reason for such a price difference is going to be the addition of features, force feedback precision, and materials quality.

Another important aspect that will play into the price is whether the wheel comes with pedals or if it’s just the steering wheel by itself.

Wheelbase

When it comes to wheelbases, remember that the majority of steering will come unbundled which will then require purchasing an additional wheelbase from the same brand.

That’s the case for many wheels including the Fanatecs and Thruatmasters which will require an extra wheelbase purchase to be able to use the steering.

Compatibility

for Assetto Corsa, you’ll be able to run the game both on PC and on Console so in our list we’ll want to specify which devices are compatible with each wheel.

Force Feedback

The FFB is one of the most important aspects to consider when purchasing a racing wheel, as it’s what will give you the realistic feeling of driving a real race car.

Higher-end wheels will have a better FFB, while lower-end ones will be more basic.

Paddle Shifters

Another feature that you might want to look out for are paddle shifters. Most racing wheels nowadays include this feature, which allows you to shift gears without ever having to take your hands off the wheel.

Though not all paddle shifters are created equal since some might feel more realistic than others.

Having said that, let’s now look into each of these five steering wheels in more detail.

Fanatec Podium DD1 F1 Racing Wheel

The Podium F1 is actually the most expensive steering wheel on the list selling for about $1,800.

The main reason for such a high price tag is due to the fact that it’s one of the most premium wheels on the market, made with only the best materials.

It comes with a built-in Fanatec Podium Direct Drive Wheel Base which is what provides its high level of force feedback.

It’s also compatible with both PlayStation and PC, though you’ll need to purchase an additional adapter for the PS5.

The wheel itself has a number of different adjustments that you can make, including rotation angle, sensitivity, and centering.

It also comes with a set of Fanatec’s Podium Advanced Paddle Shifters which are some of the best on the market.

Based on my experience, thi is probably the best steering wheel available for Assetto Corsa despite its high price tag.

Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari SF1000

The Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari steering wheel is another really good choice for those looking for quality at a medium price.

Its cost without wheelbase is $349 while the additional wheelbase is going to cost you between $400 and $500 depending on the one you choose.

The wheel comes with a wide range of compatibility, working with PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and PC.

Thrustmaster Formula Ferrari SF1000

It also has some really good reviews on Amazon with an average of 4.7/5 stars.

As for the force feedback, it’s not as precise as the Fanatec Podium but it still does a terrific job of replicating the feeling of driving.

Logitech G29

The Logitech G29 is the most affordable choice on our list, selling for only $245.

It comes with an integrated wheelbase which is extremely good considering its low price.

The wheel is compatible with PlayStation 4, 5, and PC, making it a great choice for those who want to use it on multiple devices.

The only downside to the G29 is that it doesn’t have really professional paddle shifters as the Podium F1 or Ferrari SF1000, though it still does the job.

Logitech G29

Those looking for a more affordable solution without having to sacrifice too much in terms of quality would do well to consider the Logitech G29.

It’s 6 times cheaper than the Podium F1 so if you’re happy to save some money then this is the wheel for you.

Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X

Next on our list comes the Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X which is one of the most recent and popular releases from Fanatec.

The ClubSport l will set you back $369 though it, unfortunately, doesn’t come with an integrated wheelbase.

If you sum up the cost of a $1,200 Fanatec Wheelbase it will cost you $1,569 in total.

Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X

That being said, the ClubSport Formula V2.5 X is a great choice for those who already have a compatible Fanatec Wheelbase.

As for the compatibility, it works well with PC, PS4 and Xbox One which is great for those lookig to race Assetto Corsa on multiple devices.

Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel

Last but not least we’ve got the Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel which is actually the second cheapest wheel on our list.

Its selling price is only $189 though it will require you to purchase an additional Thrustmaster Wheelbase ($400) in order to use it.

It’s got some really good paddle shifter as well as FFB making it look and feel very realistic and immersive to drive.

Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel

The TM Open Wheel is compatible for racing Assetto Corsa with PC, PS4, and Xbox One however its main selling point is the price.

So, if you’re looking for a cheap entry-level option then the Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel is definitely worth considering.

What’s the best racing wheel for Assetto Corsa?

The Podium F1 from Fanatec. Its high price tag is justified by the incredibly realistic force feedback that it provides as well as the high-quality materials used in its construction. If you’re serious about setting purple sector and winning online races on Assetto Corsa then this is the steering wheel for you.

Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel

If you’re looking for a cheaper option, then the Logitech G29 is a great choice as it still provides a pretty realistic driving experience, though nothing similar to the Podium F1.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are a lot of great racing wheels on the market that are suitable for driving on Assetto Corsa.

It all comes down to what you’re looking for and how much you’re willing to spend.

If you’re looking for something more professional and more realistic, then be ready to spend a bit more.

However, if you’re just starting out then there are some great entry-level options that won’t break the bank.

So, make sure you consider all of your options before making a purchase.
