Experiencing blinking in iRacing can be frustrating and disruptive, impacting your ability to race effectively and interact with other drivers on the track.

Step 1: Check Your Internet Connection

The first step in addressing blinking in iRacing is to check the status of your internet connection. Ensure that you have a stable and reliable internet connection with sufficient bandwidth to support online racing.

Test your connection speed using a reputable speed test tool and troubleshoot any issues or inconsistencies that may be affecting your connection quality.

Step 2: Optimize Network Settings

Once you’ve confirmed the stability of your internet connection, optimize your network settings to minimize the risk of blinking in iRacing.

Adjust your router settings to prioritize gaming traffic, enable Quality of Service (QoS) settings to allocate bandwidth efficiently, and ensure that your firewall and antivirus software are not interfering with iRacing’s network communication.

Step 3: Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can contribute to blinking and performance issues in iRacing.

Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date with the latest patches and updates from the manufacturer.

Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer, such as NVIDIA or AMD, and download the latest drivers for your specific hardware configuration.

Step 4: Adjust Graphics Settings

Graphics settings can also impact performance and stability in iRacing. Adjust your graphics settings to optimize performance while minimizing strain on your system.

Lowering graphical detail, reducing anti-aliasing settings, and disabling unnecessary visual effects can help improve performance and reduce the likelihood of blinking during races.

Step 5: Monitor System Resources

Keep an eye on your system resources while racing in iRacing to identify any potential performance bottlenecks or issues.

Use built-in performance monitoring tools or third-party utilities to track CPU usage, GPU usage, memory usage, and temperature levels.

If you notice any abnormalities or spikes in resource usage, investigate the underlying causes and take appropriate action to address them.

Step 6: Close Background Applications

Background applications and processes running on your computer can consume system resources and interfere with iRacing’s performance.

Close unnecessary applications and processes before launching iRacing to free up resources and minimize potential conflicts.

Disable resource-intensive applications such as web browsers, media players, and file-sharing programs while racing to ensure optimal performance.

Step 7: Restart Your Router and Modem

If you continue to experience blinking in iRacing despite optimizing your network settings, try restarting your router and modem to refresh your internet connection.

Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them from the power source, waiting for a few minutes, and then plugging them back in. This can help resolve temporary network issues and restore stability to your connection.
