Its extraordinary framerates and visuals along with an uplifting soundtrack made it a marvel for portable gaming devices at that time.
However, it lacked the distinction to stand out from 2004’s Ridge Racer for this same device- graphics and gameplay mechanics were almost indistinguishable.
In hindsight, we feel the additional tracks included in the sequel still make it a preferable choice – if given two options, we would choose the second.

The design team at Soni is making sure all aspects of the original classic are maintained but with a smooth upgrade to meet today’s standards.
