The T248R Shifter Pack is the T248R wheel, the T3PM pedals and a TH8S H-pattern shifter in one box. The question isn't whether the shifter is good. It's whether you'll use it, and whether the bundle price actually saves you anything.

I read Thrustmaster's US eShop and international product pages on 1 October 2026. I haven't driven this pack. What follows is what the pages confirm, the maths on the price, and the racing judgement I'd apply to anyone deciding on it.

What's in the box

According to Thrustmaster's own page, the pack contains three things:

  • the T248R wheel (T-HD hybrid force feedback, 3.1 N·m, 48 W constant power, 11" perforated synthetic leather rim, colour LCD, 4 LEDs, 25 action buttons)
  • the T3PM pedal set (Hall effect sensors, four brake pressure modes)
  • the TH8S shifter (H-pattern, 7 gears plus reverse, short 4 cm metal lever, sport-style knob)

You also get the Mini-DIN cable, two USB-A to USB-C cables, the 48 W power supply, clamps and the manual. If you want the full wheel comparison first, my T248 vs T248R breakdown covers what the R model does and doesn't change.

Price: does the bundle save money?

On 1 October 2026 the US eShop showed:

ItemUS price
T248R Shifter Pack$399.99
T248R (wheel and pedals)$349.99 (verified 29 Sep)
TH8S shifter add-on$79.99

Buying the T248R and the TH8S separately comes to $429.98. The pack is $399.99, so you save $29.99. That's a real but modest discount, effectively the shifter at $50.

Two warnings. The eShop listed the pack as in stock with "only 1 unit available" when I checked, so this may not stay in stock. And the thrustmaster.com product page showed €349.99 in Europe, so regional pricing differs. Always check your own cart.

Platforms: PlayStation and PC only

The pack is officially licensed for PS5 and PS4 and works on PC (Windows 10/11). There's no Xbox version of the Shifter Pack. If you're on Xbox, the Xbox/PC T248 is a different product and you'd have to add a shifter yourself.

The good news is that the TH8S on its own is broader. Thrustmaster lists it for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. On PC it works with any wheel. On consoles it needs a Thrustmaster force feedback base. That makes it a sensible add-on later if you start with the plain wheel.

What the TH8S actually is

It's a traditional H-pattern manual shifter, not a sequential one. Thrustmaster describes it as 7+1: direct engagement of seven gears and reverse, and you can double up the gears to cover trucks with up to 14. The lever is only 4 cm, so throws are short. Think roadgoing sports car, not a tall rally stick.

It's built for rally, trucks, GT and NASCAR-style games, which tells you where it belongs: cars that really are driven with a clutch and an H-gate.

Here's where I'd be honest. A shifter without a clutch pedal isn't a manual car. The T3PM set in the pack has throttle, brake and clutch pedals in the usual Thrustmaster layout, but check that your target game and platform actually support H-pattern plus clutch before you buy. Support varies by game and by console, and I won't give you a list I haven't verified.

Who should buy the pack

Buy it if you play on PS5 or PC, you enjoy road cars, trucks or rally, and you want the extra immersion of a real gate. At $50 effective, the price of the shifter inside the pack is hard to argue with.

Skip it if you mainly race modern GT3, GT4, formula or prototype cars. Those use paddles or sequential shifters, and the paddles on the T248R rim do the job. In GT3-style racing an H-gate is a compromise, not an upgrade. If that's your world, put the money toward a better wheel, for example one of the bases in my Thrustmaster wheelbase lineup guide.

Think twice if you plan to upgrade the base soon. The TH8S is a standalone unit with Mini-DIN and USB connections, so check connection compatibility with whatever base you move to before assuming the shifter carries over.

Setting it up

Setup is simple: clamp the shifter within reach of your right hand, connect it to the wheel base per the manual, then bind the gears in the game. On PC, binding is where people get stuck. If your shifter isn't being recognised, my guide on why a gear shifter won't assign in iRacing covers the typical causes, and how to use the H shifter in iRacing walks through mapping.

For pedals, the T3PM pack pedals can be tuned in the desktop app on supported products. See my My Thrustmaster Panel pedal tuning guide for brake curve and dead zone settings.

Once mapped, I'd spend a session practising clutch release points before judging the shifter. Most "it feels bad" reactions come from not matching revs, not from the hardware.

Where this pack fits in a bigger shifter decision

If you're still deciding whether an H-pattern is for you, my roundup of sim racing gear shifters compares the wider market. It's an older article, so use it for context and check current prices.

My verdict

The T248R Shifter Pack is a good deal if you want an H-pattern and already wanted the T248R. A $29.99 saving isn't a reason to buy a shifter you won't use, though. If you drive paddle-shifted race cars, skip the shifter. If you drive road cars or trucks on PS5 or PC, the pack is an easy yes while it's in stock.

FAQ

What's in the T248R Shifter Pack?

The T248R wheel, T3PM pedals and TH8S H-pattern shifter, plus cables, a 48 W power supply and clamps.

How much is the T248R Shifter Pack?

$399.99 on the US eShop on 1 October 2026. The T248R alone was $349.99 and the TH8S add-on $79.99, so the pack saves $29.99. Thrustmaster's European page listed €349.99.

Does the T248R Shifter Pack work on Xbox?

No. The pack is licensed for PS5 and PS4 and compatible with PC. The standalone TH8S, however, is listed for Xbox One and Series X|S.

Is the TH8S sequential or H-pattern?

H-pattern: seven gears plus reverse. Thrustmaster doesn't list a sequential mode.

Can I use the TH8S with any wheel?

On PC, Thrustmaster says it works with all racing wheels. On consoles it requires a Thrustmaster force feedback racing wheel base.

Is the T248R shifter worth it for GT3 racing?

Usually not. GT3 and similar cars use paddle or sequential shifting, so an H-gate adds little there.
