The Thrustmaster T-GT III is a direct drive Gran Turismo 7 wheel and pedal bundle for PS4 and PS5. It costs $749.99 in the US and goes on sale from 3 December 2026. The base gives 5 Nm of constant torque with overshoot up to 10 Nm, and a load cell pedal set is in the box. It is not out yet, so nobody outside Thrustmaster has raced one in public. That includes me.

Checked on 15 October 2026 against Thrustmaster's official T-GT III announcement page (thrustmaster.com/t-gt-iii) and the official T-GT II product page on thrustmaster.com. Press details are labelled as reported. Where Thrustmaster has not published something, I say so instead of filling the gap.

T-GT III price and release date

Thrustmaster's recommended retail prices for the full bundle:

RegionPrice
US$749.99
Europe€699.99
UK£649.99
Japan¥136,400

The page says the bundle goes on sale "from December 3", with worldwide availability expected before Christmas. Retail prices can vary from these.

One note on Japan. GTPlanet reported ¥119,000 in its 3 October article. The official page I checked today says ¥136,400. I go with Thrustmaster.

Thrustmaster calls it "the very first Direct Axial Drive bundle designed for Gran Turismo" and the first to natively integrate a load cell pedal set. GEAR JOLT is a kick through the wheel on gear shifts. ENGINE ROAR is a vibration tied to engine RPM.

What the page does not give: pedal count, the load cell's maximum force, rim diameter, total button count, weight, mounting details and box contents beyond "turnkey bundle". I will add them when Thrustmaster publishes them.

Does the T-GT III work on PC?

Thrustmaster only lists PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. PC is not on the page.

The T-GT II and T598 pages both list PC. For the T-GT III, nothing official says so yet. If PC matters to you, wait for the full product page or the manual before you order.

Gran Turismo 7 features

The licence is the selling point. It is Thrustmaster's "Officially Licensed Gran Turismo 7 Steering Wheel", with the four encoders mapped for the game.

Thrustmaster also says the wheel will get software and firmware updates to keep pace with Gran Turismo's Spec updates. The same page mentions that Gran Turismo 7's free Spec IV update comes in two parts, the first in October 2026 and the second in December 2026. It does not list which T-GT III features arrive with which part.

The announcement came with a second piece of news: Thrustmaster is an official partner of the Gran Turismo World Series again. It held the official hardware partner role from 2018 to 2020.

What is new versus the T-GT II

Three real changes. The motor goes from a belt drive to direct drive. The brake gets a load cell, so it reads how hard you press instead of how far the pedal moves. And it is $50 cheaper.

That brake change matters more than people think. With a load cell you brake on pressure, like in a real car. Your leg learns a force, not a position, and that is far easier to repeat lap after lap.

The rim looks familiar. The T-GT II already had a leather rim with four encoders. From the photos, the T-GT III rim is very close.

My older look at the T-GT II is in the Thrustmaster T-GT 2 review.

Reported, not confirmed

These come from press coverage, mainly GTPlanet's article of 3 October 2026. Thrustmaster has not confirmed them.

  • The base. GTPlanet says Thrustmaster does not name it, but from the specs and the look it believes it is the T598 servo base.
  • The pedals. From photos, GTPlanet believes they are Raceline Pedals LTE with the Raceline LC load cell kit.
  • The rim. GTPlanet describes it as essentially the T-GT II rim with an upgraded quick release.

They are sensible guesses. The 5 Nm figure with overshoot matches the T598. But a guess is a guess until Thrustmaster prints it.

T-GT III vs T598 vs Fanatec GT DD Pro on PS5

Fanatec GT DD Pro bundleDirect drive8 NmYes, CSL Pedals$979.99 (sale, was $1,089.97)

Prices are the official US list prices on 15 October 2026, the same ones I use in my best sim racing wheels for PS5 list.

T598 or T-GT III? On paper the force is the same. For $150 more the T-GT III adds load cell pedals, the GT7 rim and the licence. If you mainly race Gran Turismo 7, that is a fair price for the brake alone. If you race other games on PC too, the T598 lists PC and the T-GT III does not, for now.

GT DD Pro or T-GT III? The Fanatec gives you 8 Nm against 5 Nm, and you can buy it today. But its bundle comes with two-pedal CSL Pedals, and the Load Cell Kit is sold separately. The T-GT III has the load cell in the box and costs $230 less than the GT DD Pro sale price. My Fanatec GT DD Pro review covers that one in detail.

Building a full console setup around it? My PS5 sim racing setup guide goes through stands, cockpits and screens. And for every wheel that works with the game, see the GT7 compatible wheels list.

Should you wait for it?

If Gran Turismo 7 is your main game and you do not own a wheel yet, I would wait seven weeks. Direct drive and a load cell brake for $749.99 is a strong package on paper.

If you already own a T598, I would not buy a whole new bundle for the rim and pedals. Wait for real reviews first.

And if you want to race this weekend, the T598 and the GT DD Pro are on sale now.
