You get skill points in Forza Horizon 6 by chaining skills without crashing, and you spend them in each car's Car Mastery tree. The fast way to do both: buy a 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B-STi, buy its multiplier perk, farm points in it on an EventLab skill course, then spend them on cars with wheelspins in their tree.
That is the whole loop. The rest of this page is the detail. If you are new to the game, my Forza Horizon 6 guide covers everything else first.
Checked on 26 October 2026 against the skill point guides of Video Games Chronicle (19 May 2026), TechWiser (2 June 2026) and RacingGames.gg (4 June 2026). I found no official skill point table from Playground Games, so only what at least two of them agree on is here.
How skill points work
You earn skill points by chaining skills while you drive. Drifting, near misses, air from jumps, speed and smashing scenery all count. Each skill adds to the chain and the multiplier climbs as the chain grows. When you stop, the chain banks and turns into skill points.
Two things end a chain early:
- A crash. Hitting another car or something solid that does not break ends the chain and resets the multiplier.
- Spinning out. Lose the car and the chain goes with it.
So the real skill here is the same one I tell every karting driver who wants to be fast over a full race: tidy beats brave. A chain of small clean skills is worth more than one big drift that ends in a wall.
The guides disagree on how much skill score one skill point costs and where the cap per chain sits, so I am not giving you a number. Watch the counter in game: you will see the points tick up as the chain banks.
Step 1: buy the 22B-STi and its multiplier perk
The 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B-STi Version costs about 86,000 CR. Its Car Mastery tree has a perk that raises the skill multiplier up to 9x. Both guides that list farm cars name it, and it is the cheapest way to make every chain pay more.

The same tree has a Super Wheelspin about 30 points in, so the 22B is also the car my Forza Horizon 6 Super Wheelspins guide tells you to farm for spins. One car, both jobs.
Before you farm, open the tree and buy the multiplier perk first. Points you earn before that are points earned at a lower rate.
Step 2: pick where to farm
Three kinds of place work. The first two are the fastest because the props reset.
| Where | How it works | Why it is good |
|---|---|---|
| EventLab skill course | Search EventLab for a skill farm course and play it | Props reset when you restart. Short runs, no downtime |
| Estate layout | Build a community skill layout on your estate | Props reset when you fast travel back |
| Open world | Airfields, stadiums and open farmland | No setup, but you hunt for things to hit |
EventLab courses come and go, and some of the popular ones were built around a specific car. If a course tells you to use a car, use it.
Set the difficulty to all assists for farming. You are not racing anyone, and assists keep you off the walls, which keeps the chain alive.
Step 3: spend the points
Every car has its own Car Mastery tree. The perks are things like credits, XP, wheelspins and Super Wheelspins. Some expensive or special cars have big credit payouts in the tree.
My order:
- The multiplier perk on the car you farm in. It pays for itself on the first chain.
- Trees with spins. The 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto has 3 wheelspins and 1 Super Wheelspin in its tree for 39 points. It costs about 365,000 CR, so buy it when you have the credits. The 22B gives a Super Wheelspin for about 30 points and costs a quarter of that.
- Credit perks. Open the tree of each car you own before you spend. A cash perk is a better use of points than a small XP boost.

What I would not do: spend points early on weak perks in trees you will never come back to. Points are slow at the start and fast once you have the 22B multiplier. Save them until you have something worth buying.
If credits are your goal, my Forza Horizon 6 money guide puts Car Mastery in order with the other ways to earn.
Coming from Forza Horizon 5?
The idea is the same: chain skills, spend in Car Mastery. My Forza Horizon 5 skill points guide still applies to that game. Do not copy FH5 farm cars across, though. The trees are different in FH6, and the 22B-STi is the car the FH6 guides agree on.
FAQ
What is the fastest way to get skill points in Forza Horizon 6?
Buy the multiplier perk in the 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B-STi, which takes the skill multiplier up to 9x, then drive an EventLab skill farm course with all assists on. The props reset every restart, so you can chain run after run.
What breaks a skill chain in FH6?
Hitting another car or a solid object that does not break, or spinning out. The chain ends and the multiplier resets.
What should I spend skill points on in Forza Horizon 6?
The multiplier perk on your farm car first, then Car Mastery trees with wheelspins or Super Wheelspins (the Revuelto has four spins for 39 points), then cash perks in the cars you own.
Do skill points carry over between cars?
You earn skill points with any car and spend them in whichever car's tree you want. That is why the usual loop is to earn in one car and spend in another.
Is there a cap on skill points per chain?
The guides say there is one but do not agree on where it sits, so I do not give a number here. Bank chains often rather than chasing one huge chain.
