Forza Horizon 6 gives you credits from a lot of places, but only a few of them move the needle. The order I would follow: collect the one time money, set up the race bonus, then play the game and let the wheelspins and the Car Mastery perks do the rest.

Checked on 17 October 2026. Playground Games does not publish a credits guide, so every method and number below is one that at least two guides agree on (Dexerto, GAMES.GG and Red Bull), or one already checked on my difficulty settings page. Figures that only one guide gives are left out.

The quick plan

StepWhatWhat it pays
1Smash the 200 mascots5,000 CR each, 1,000,000 CR in total
2Turn up the difficulty and turn off four assistsUp to +100% on every race prize
3Level up and spinWheelspins at certain levels
4Spend Car Mastery skill pointsCredits and wheelspins in some cars' trees
5Complete Journal milestonesCredits and wheelspins

1. The mascots: 1,000,000 CR for exploring

There are 200 mascots spread across the map. Each one pays 5,000 CR the moment you drive through it. All 200 is 1,000,000 CR.

That is the best money early in the game, because it needs no car, no skill and no difficulty. Drive any car through them as you explore, and do it before you start farming races.

2. Make every race pay more

The race prize gets a bonus from two settings, and they stack.

SettingBonus
Drivatar DifficultyFrom +0% (Tourist) to +50% (Unbeatable)
Anti-Lock Braking off+15%
Manual shifting+15%
Traction Control off+10%
Stability Control off+10%

At the top that is +100%: double the prize of the same race on the easiest settings.

Do not jump straight to the top, though. A race you lose pays less than a race you win at a lower level. My rule is to play at the level where you win by one or two seconds, and raise it one step when you win by more. The full table, and the order I would turn the assists off in, is in my Forza Horizon 6 difficulty settings.

Two quick ones:

  • Stability Control off today. It slows you out of every corner. Off, you get 10% more credits and a faster car.
  • Manual shifting is the big one. 15% for something you get used to in a weekend.

On a wheel, set it up first with my Forza Horizon 6 wheel settings. Without the assists, a wheel that feels right is worth more than any bonus.

3. Wheelspins from level ups

Your driver level gives you wheelspins as it goes up, and some levels give a Super Wheelspin. The guides disagree on exactly which levels, so watch the My Horizon tab. The ways to get more on purpose are in my Forza Horizon 6 Super Wheelspins guide. A spin can drop a car or a cash prize, and the cash prizes can be big.

Spin as you go. A car you do not want is not wasted either: you can sell it on the Auction House.

4. Car Mastery skill points

Every car has its own Car Mastery tree. You buy the perks with skill points, which you earn by chaining skills while you drive: drifts, near misses, jumps and so on.

Some cars' trees have credit perks or wheelspins in them. Check the tree of each car you own before you spend points on small perks. A tree with a cash perk is where your skill points should go first.

5. The Journal

The Journal tracks your progress across the festival, including the Discover Japan section. When you complete tasks you earn points, and the milestones pay credits and wheelspins.

You do not need to farm it. It fills up while you do the rest of this list. Open it now and then and collect what is waiting, because the rewards do not drop on their own.

Engine swaps count too: each type of upgrade you fit ticks Journal progress. The swaps for every car are in my Forza Horizon 6 engine swaps list.

Other ways to earn

  • Food delivery jobs. They pay credits on completion. A good change of pace from races.
  • Shared designs. When other players download or use your liveries, you earn credits. If you like painting cars, it is money for something you would do anyway.
  • The Auction House. The place to sell cars you do not need, including duplicates from wheelspins.
  • Barn finds. Free cars. You can keep them or sell them. All 15 are in my Forza Horizon 6 barn finds guide.

What I would not do

  • Do not buy a house just for its perk before you have the mascot money. Houses are expensive, and the perks pay back slowly.
  • Do not grind one short race on the easiest settings. You are leaving up to half the prize on the table.
  • Do not buy cars you can win. Check the car list for how you get each car before you pay full price for it.

The same logic worked in the last game, and my Forza Horizon 5 money guide is still there if you play both. For everything else in the new one, start with my Forza Horizon 6 guide.
