Forza Horizon 6 lets you take an engine out of one car and fit it to another. The difference in this game is that Playground published the whole swap table on forza.net. So this list is not collected by hand: every engine, power figure and car count below comes from that official table.

Checked on 17 October 2026 against forza.net/fh6engines and the official car list on forza.net/fh6cars. Power and torque are the figures in the official table. Your upgrade screen shows the exact number for your car.

Different engine names111
Engine versions (same name, different power counts twice)136
Cars on the official list658

Cars with no swap at all141

The gap between 111 names and 136 versions matters. The same name can sit at different power on different cars. There are two versions of the 6.5L V12, for example: 1,140 hp on the Aston Martins and 1,001 hp on cars like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the Lamborghini Diablo. So the tables below list each version on its own row.

The diesel at the top is a party trick. Only one car can take it, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023, and the Unimog also has the 1,080 hp version of the same engine.

The two that matter are next. The 7.4L V8TT at 1,750 hp fits 37 cars and the 8.9L V8 DSC at 1,500 hp fits 27, the first mostly in trucks and SUVs, the second mostly in American muscle cars like the 1969 Dodge Charger. If you want the most power in a car people will recognise, start there.

The 5.1L V8 TT only goes into Koenigseggs: the CCGT, the Agera and the Gemera.

The AZ-1 is the one I would try first. It is a tiny Mazda kei sports car, and the table lets you put a 2.0L three rotor turbo with 1,000 hp in it, or a 691 hp four rotor racing engine, or one of three motorbike engines.

The AE86 is the other one people ask about. The Forza Edition Trueno has 9 options and the standard GT Apex has 7. Both can take the 2.6L I6-TT, the 2.6L 4 rotor racing engine and the 2.5L I6-T. The Forza Edition adds the 4.8L V10, the 3.0L I6 TT and the 4.0L V8-TT.

How to do an engine swap in Forza Horizon 6

forza.net gives the menu path:

  1. Open Upgrades and Tuning on the car.
  2. Choose Custom Upgrade.
  3. Open Body Kits and Conversions.
  4. Pick the engine swap. The game only shows the engines listed for that car.

Some swaps also let you change the aspiration: natural, single turbo, twin turbo or one of two superchargers. 820 of the 1,950 options have no aspiration swap at all, so check before you plan a build around it.

forza.net also says that each type of upgrade you fit counts toward your Collection Journal progress. If you are chasing the Journal, one swap on any car ticks that box.

How I choose an engine

The same rules I use in Forza Horizon 5 work here:

  • Pick the class first. A big engine raises the PI a lot. If you race in a lower class, a smaller engine is often the better swap.
  • Look at the weight. A big V8 or V12 in a light car moves the balance. A light turbo four or a rotary keeps it.
  • Use the most power only where it can be used. Drag strips and top speed runs, yes. Tight road races, almost never.
  • Read the upgrade screen, not the list. The table gives you the engine. The upgrade screen tells you what it does to that car.

My picks for each type of race are in my best cars in Forza Horizon 6 list, and the drag strip times are on my best drag cars in Forza Horizon 6 page.
