There is no single best car in Forza Horizon 6. There is a best car for each race type, and the one I would buy first is the 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype. It costs about 250,000 credits and it wins road races.
Below are my picks for every race type, what they cost and what to drive before you have money. I checked the cars and prices on 4 October 2026. Prices are approximate.
The short list
| Race type | Best car | Price (credits) | Cheaper option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Road racing | 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype | About 250,000 | Mazda #55 787B, free barn find |
| Street and touge | 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo | About 270,000 | 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF, about 29,000 |
| Dirt and rally | 2022 Subaru BRZ Forza Edition | Aftermarket car | 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI, about 30,000 |
| Cross country | 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 250 | About 70,000 | 1970 GMC Jimmy, starter car |
| Drift | Formula Drift #151 Toyota GR Supra | About 185,000 | 1989 Nissan Silvia K's, starter car |
| Drag | 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition | Wheelspin or Auction House | 1998 Toyota Supra RZ |
| Speed traps | Koenigsegg Jesko | About 3,500,000 | Tune any S2 car for top speed |
| R class | 2018 Ferrari FXX-K Evo | About 4,500,000 | None |
Road racing: Toyota GR GT Prototype
The GR GT Prototype is one of the two cover cars, and it is the best road racing car you can buy early. About 250,000 credits.
What makes it good is not the power. It is how it stays planted. The car is stable under braking and it holds its line in fast corners, so you can push every lap without the rear surprising you. That is exactly what wins races: a car you trust is faster than a car that is quicker on paper.
The other road cars worth owning:
- 2018 Ferrari FXX-K Evo. The best R class car, strong without any tuning. About 4,500,000 credits.
- 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie. For the fastest circuits.
- 2013 McLaren P1. Good on road and street.
- Mazda #55 787B. A free barn find with no real weakness. If you find it, you do not need to buy a road car for a while.
- Mazda Furai. A Series 1 Festival Playlist reward, strong on both road and street.
Street racing and touge: Nissan GT-R Nismo
Street races and mountain passes are narrow, with traffic and slow corners. Top speed does not matter. Traction out of the corner does.
That is why the 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo is my pick. All wheel drive, strong brakes, and it puts its power down early. About 270,000 credits.
Alternatives:
- 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Better handling and braking, needs a cleaner driver.
- 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista.
- 1990 Nissan #12 Skyline GT-R (BNR32).
- 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF. About 29,000 credits. Slow on the straights, very good in the corners, and it teaches you to carry speed.
Dirt and rally: Subaru BRZ Forza Edition
The 2022 Subaru BRZ Forza Edition is the best car on loose surfaces. It is stable on gravel and it loses very little on tarmac, so it works on mixed routes too. It is an Aftermarket car, found at the Sotoyama Ski Resort.
If you do not have it, buy one of these two. Both cost about 30,000 credits:
- 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Cheap, easy to upgrade, forgiving.
- 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR. A little sharper, and many players rate it the best rally car in the game.
For the top classes, the 1986 Audi Sport quattro S1 and the 2001 Ford #4 Focus RS are the rally cars to look at.
Cross country: Toyota Land Cruiser 250
Cross country is jumps, rivers and fields. You need suspension travel and weight that lands straight.
The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 250 is the other cover car and it costs about 70,000 credits. For that price nothing does the job better.
- 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R. About 110,000 credits. More power, more speed over open ground.
- 2022 Subaru BRZ Forza Edition. Yes, again. It scores a 10 for off road when tuned.
- 1970 GMC Jimmy. A starter car, so it is free.
Drift: Formula Drift #151 Toyota GR Supra
About 185,000 credits in the Autoshow, and it is built to slide from the first metre. If you are learning, start in the Nissan Silvia K's instead.
The full ranking, with a base tune, is in my best drift cars in Forza Horizon 6 list.
Drag: Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition
The Forza Edition R35 is the fastest car over the quarter mile, and stock it is listed with a top speed of 304.8 mph. You get it from Wheelspins, the Auction House or as an Aftermarket car.
The 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition is the other drag car that is strong out of the box. All the times and the three drag strips are in my best drag cars in Forza Horizon 6 list.
Speed traps and speed zones: Koenigsegg Jesko
For raw top speed on the highway, the Koenigsegg Jesko. After that the Hennessey Venom F5, the Koenigsegg Agera RS and the Mercedes-AMG ONE.
These cars are expensive. If you only need three stars on a speed trap, a top speed tune on a car you already own is enough. My guide on making the fastest car explains the build.
The best cars by class
Online races and the weekly playlist are restricted by class, so you need one good car in each. These are the cars the community uses most. I have not verified every one of them myself.
| Class | PI range | Cars to look at |
|---|---|---|
| S2 | 901 to 998 | Koenigsegg Jesko, Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Forza Edition, Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 |
| S1 | 801 to 900 | Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4, 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, 2022 Maserati MC20 |
| A | 701 to 800 | 2023 Honda Civic Type R, 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 |
| B | 601 to 700 | 1991 Honda Beat, 1984 Honda City E II |
One rule works in every class: build for handling first, then power. A car at the top of its class on power alone is hard to drive and slow in the corners. This is the same thing an engineer tells you on a real car. Lap time comes from the corners.
How the classes worked in the last game is in my best S2 class cars in FH5 list, and most of the logic carries over.
The best starter car
At the start you choose between three cars:
- Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205. All wheel drive, the most balanced of the three. This is the one I would pick, because it works on road and on dirt.
- 1989 Nissan Silvia K's. Rear wheel drive. The best one for drifting.
- 1970 GMC Jimmy. The most power and the best off road.
Do not lose time on the choice. You keep all three cars in your garage.
The cheap cars worth buying

If I started today, I would buy in this order:
- 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI, about 30,000. Dirt races are covered.
- 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 250, about 70,000. Cross country is covered.
- 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype, about 250,000. Road racing is covered.
- 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo, about 270,000. Street races are covered.
That is about 620,000 credits for four cars that win in four race types. Then spend on upgrades and tuning, not on more cars. A well tuned 30,000 credit car beats a stock one that costs ten times more. My FH5 tuning guide explains every slider, and the menu works the same way.
Everything else about the game, from wristbands to the map, is in my Forza Horizon 6 guide.
