Ever since the GT7 game release back in March 2022, sim racing drivers have been debating about which game was better between GT6 and GT7.

While naturally you’re supposed to see a linear progression in game quality and features from one game to the next, this isn’t always the case.

The 2 big Gran Turismo 7 questions on everyone’s mind are:

  • Which game is really better?
  • What has changed and what has improved?

Let’s take a look at some of the key differences between the two games to see which one comes out on top.

Which game is more realistic to drive?

As far as driving realism, it’s quite impressive the step forward that GT7 developers were able to pull out in comparison to its previous version of GT6.

The game features much more accurate tire and grip models that make the cars feel more planted to the ground.

Which game is more realistic to drive?

This increased realism also leads to a higher sense of control which is something that was lacking in GT6, giving it a bad “Arcade-style game” connotation.

For that reason we’ve got to give credits to Gran Turismo 7 developers which, despite their recent game release in March 2022, have already been working on bringing fresh updates to improve their car physics even further in order to hopefully match ACC and iRacing incredible driving realism.

Which game has more cars and tracks?

In terms of cars and tracks available, GT6 is surprisingly the clear winner with an incredible 1197 cars and 41 tracks (with 86 layouts), compared to the 520 cars and 35 tracks (+25 layouts) that you’ll find in Gran Turismo 7.

So yeah, GT6 has got the more cars and tracks available between the two.

Which game has more cars and tracks?

But hey, quantity doesn’t always mean quality so don’t take your decisions purely based on that.

All in all, the car details and specs in the new Gran Turismo 7 are pretty impressive, but they could probably add a bit more realism from the onboard cockpit view which is outstanding in games like iRacing, ACC, and rFactor 2.

Which game has better graphics?

Gran Turismo 7 is clearly the best in terms of graphics thanks to the power of the new PS5 console.

The game is able to push 4K resolution at a smooth 60 frames per second which makes for an incredibly immersive and realistic experience, on top of that the loading times have been greatly reduced.

Which game has better graphics?

In terms of graphics, it’s pretty clear that GT7 is the way to go if you’re looking for a top level and graphically appealing racing game.

Compatibility (PC, Xbox, Playstation)

In terms of device compatibility, both games only offer a PlayStation version, with no official words from the developers about any other potential versions for Xbox or PC.

Compatibility (PC, Xbox, Playstation)

So if you don’t own a PlayStation, then you’re unfortunately out of luck and won’t be able to enjoy either of these two fantastic Gran Turismo games.

Bear in mind though, only Gran Turismo 7 can be played on PS5 since GT6 only allows PS3 and PS4.

Which game has better force feedback?

In terms of force feedback realism, it seems like GT7 developers have done a pretty decent step forward allowing players to feel the grip and resistance from the steering wheel in a much more realistic way.

In fact you can now really feel when the tires start to lose grip and slide which makes for a pretty intense and exciting experience, especially when playing on high difficulty levels.

Conclusion

To sum up, if you’re looking for the most realistic and immersive racing game experience possible, then you should definitely go with Gran Turismo 7.

However, if you’re simply looking for a cheap and vast portfolio of cars to with, then you can’t go wrong with GT6.

We hope you enjoyed this quick comparison between the two Gran Turismo games.

Good luck and we’ll see you on track! 🙂
