Since the release of the GT7 game in March 2022, sim racing drivers have been comparing the two games called Project Cars 3 and Gran Turismo 7.

Of course, they have their advantages and pitfalls, but sometimes making a choice which racing game would suit you and your PS/Xbox console will be challenging.

In this guide, we’ll take a look at similarities and differences between these games based upon several aspects including:

  • Realism in driving
  • Number of cars & tracks
  • Quality of graphics
  • System requirements
  • Laser scanned tracks
  • Cost and Availability

So let’s go ahead and put all that into an in depth analysis of the two games we are comparing — PC3 vs GT7!

Which game is more realistic to drive?

The driving experiences portray a little bit similarity such that there seems to be more realism in driving in PC3 than in GT7 despite the fact that Gran Turismo 7 is slightly better in terms of vehicle dynamics and tire behavior than Project Cars 3.

In fact, according to most sim drivers, PC3 is quite deficient in some quite critical physics and car dynamics necessary in real racing that many would expect to find.

Which game is more realistic to drive?

In addition, one other aspect where GT7 does bears some success is its tire model in which the level of grip throughout a race is better and more extreme and consistent.

This makes it slightly harder to learn but at the end of the day, it makes the overall driving experience more realistic than Project Cars 3.

Let’s give some credit to Gran Turismo 7 developers which, less than a year after their game release in March 2022, have already embarked on new efforts to enhance the physics of cars with the hope of attaining the great levels of realism present in ACC & iRacing.

Which game has more cars and tracks?

In terms of the number of cars and racetracks available Project Cars 3 comes out at a distant second with 2oo cars plus 1 2o tracks as opposed to the 520 cars and 35 tracks plus 25 layouts that you will find in Gran Turismo 7.

So yes, GT7 has got more number of cars as opposed to Project Cars 3 which borrowed cars-less yet more tracks.

Which game has more cars and tracks?

Speaking of the cars offered by both the games in regards to quantity and quality, equally both games have or should I say must have some licensed and unlicensed cars that will cost some credits to acquire.

Overall, Gran Turismo 7 has a very interesting take on the car features and specifications, but it still does not regret using the first person view as seen in games such as iRacing, ACC and F1 2021.

Which game has better graphics?

Project Cars 3 has a state of the art graphics that we can hardly find any flaws in it.

Both the car exterior and interior are extremely realistic and you can see how they pay high attention to every single detail.

As long as you’re using a PC with a powerful GPU and processor, be ready for the ultimate graphics experience!

Which game has better graphics?

Similarly, Gran Turismo 7 is also known for their excellent graphics quality.

It has been one of their strong points since their 2022 release, and their official Playstation license makes it even more accessible for console gamers to enjoy the great graphics.

I’d say both games have very similar graphics and so there are no clear winners here.

Compatibility (PC, Xbox, Playstation)

As far as the device is concerned, Project Cars 3 is a project in which PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S support.

In addition, you can also play PC3 on PC running with Operating System of Windows 10 or more.

As much as PC tends to prolong one’s gaming experience thanks to the availability of stronger GPUs which makes the graphics very appealing, this places Project Cars 3 in an upper hand when compared to racing simulators limited to consoles only like that of GT7.

With that in mind, console racing should not really be dismissed out of hand, even more so when you are playing a racing game that is only available on console that is Gran Turismo 7 (playstation 4 and 5).

Moreover, especially for Playstation users, we suggest Gran Turismo 7 instead of PC3, as it is one of the top-quality racings that you can play on PSY5 because of the car physics in it.

FOV (Field of view)

FOV is another factor that most probably will be influenced by immersion, hence enjoyment for the use is determined by how far each user can see.

As it applies with most high quality racing games, you can always adjust your FOV in the settings menu which one will come across.

FOV (Field of view)

In regard to Project Cars 3 and Gran Turismo 7, we think both games are predestined to suit people’s FOV where, if they do not get changed at all, gamers will be fine using the default settings and will not have to alter it that much.

That said, I recommend you don’t skip using the free FOV calculator, which we have recently released.

Which game has laser scanned tracks?

Although laser scanning is aside racing performance, it still factors highly among sim racers as one of the elements that just has to be done right in sim racing.

Of the tracks in Project Cars 3, only a handful of them are either laser or drone scanned.

Which game has laser scanned tracks?

Likewise, there are very few laser-scanned tracks in Gran Turismo 7, which are computer-generated based on 3D images from realiers.

Nevertheless, most of the non-laser scanned circuits in Gran Turismo 7 are in fact set in fictional, or historical, racing circuits.

Which game is better in online multiplayer racing?

Concerning online races, both games have a huge and almost identical range of multiplayer options.

In fact both games come with a sophisticated licensing system where you will be able to participate in racing events with drivers of a similar skill level.

While both PC3 and GT7 combat the measure of satisfaction of their players with fun and competitive online races at different levels, in a practical sense, their online racing is not as serious as iRacing or Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Which game has better force feedback?

Despite the fact that Project Cars 3 and Gran Turismo 7 differ from each other in several aspects it is safe to estimate that both developers have succeeded in achieving precise and suitable force feedback functionality.

Some drivers would most likely be fine with just racing with the default settings, however, it’s never an issue to change the in-game FFB settings situated under the wheel settings menu to either make the wheel feel “heavier” or “lighter” for those who would want to mess around with the FFB.

Which game has better force feedback?

Aside from that, as noted through the duration of assessment, where possible in both games please do not use a controller but a proper professional racing wheel from Fanatec, Logitech or Thrustmaster.

Which game is better for you?

As you might have found out, Project Cars 3 and Gran Turismo 7 are both great picks but it all depends on what the user is seeking in a sim racing game.

When it comes to racing on PC or Xbox, then achieving the furthest graphic quality coexisting with multi platform device support is better suited to Project Cars 3.

In contrast, targeting audience searching for better physics, more laser scanned tracks and overall better immersion in terms of driving experience then Gran Turismo 7 sits better with you.

In perfect world if only we had all the time and all the financial resources we could possibly advise you to acquire and play through both games in order to make your own opinion regarding them.

But in case that you are already having a problem with deciding which one is better for you, we will guide you through each one of the items mentioned above.
