In the first paragraphs, we defined why someone may benefit from recording their iRacing gameplay. It may be as simple as looking at the recording to analyze what can be improved or editing it for a streaming service.
FBX is one of the best software for recording iRacing sessions, and in this tutorial, we are going to provide steps on how to record iRacing with FBX.

Step 1: Setting Up FBX for Game Capture
So, we will start by opening the FBX application. Go to the ‘Settings’ tab on the FBX user interface and select ‘Capture’. Here, you should select ‘Game capture mode.’
Since this mode is dedicated to capturing gameplay, users do not have to worry about FBX’s performance on their iRacing games.
Step 2: Starting iRacing
Speaking of which, the next step after FBX has been configured is opening iRacing. All processes are the same as opening the game normally. The software will run in the background while you play the game.
Step 3: Locating FBX’s Overlay on iRacing
So, once iRacing is uploaded, wait for some time then you will see that the FBX overlay is displaying meaning it is recording the gameplay.
By default, it will be on the upper left of the screen but it will also be adjustable in the ‘Overlay (HUD)’ menu under the ‘Settings’ tab.
Step 4: Initiating the Recording
If you want to start capturing what you see on iRacing during your gameplay, press the hotkey which turns the recording option on or off. The Ctrl + F12 hotkey is by default set for this task.
If you ever want to, you can change this hotkey in FBX settings.
Step 5: Monitoring the Recording
As you start the recording process an indicator in the FBX overlay confirms that your gameplay is indeed being recorded. This indicator will be visible at all times if your recording is on.
The overlay is also capable of showing the total time you have spent recording, as well as a reminder of the key bound by the ‘Stop Recording’ command which is found in the overlay (HUD) section.
Step 6: Stopping and Saving Your Recording
When you are done recording, press the hotkey which turns the recording back off. This will make the program save your video file. The interface will show a ‘Saved’ sign before returning to how it was.
After the ‘Saved’ issue has disappeared, start a new recording session if you require another one.
Step 7: Reviewing Your Recorded Footage
When wanting to review the iRacing gameplay you’ve last recorded, go to the recordings section in the FBX. Here will be the thumbnails for your previously recorded videos, choose the one you wish to watch.
