Key concepts in this article
- Thrustmaster has released a new Ferrari 488 GT3 Wheel Add-On for sim racing.

The 488 GT3, a mid-engine sportscar, is a 1:1 replica of the real-world device found in the cockpit of its namesake. With over 500 race wins in GT3 competition, it continues the long tradition of Ferrari-endorsed equipment from the French-American company.
Among its offerings is the SF1000 Formula 1-inspired wheel. Now, members of the Thrustmaster ecosystem can bring the thrill of racing home with the same 12.2-inch/31-cm diameter wheel.
How does the 488 Thrustmaster wheel look and feel?
The Scuderia’s shield is proudly displayed on a carbon fibre-clad faceplate, surrounded by buttons strategically positioned like those found on their track-ready counterparts.
However, their functions have been reconfigured. With a total of 11 action buttons, one D-pad, two rotary encoders, and two thumb encoders, this controller offers versatile control options.
On either side of the Thustmaster logo, you’ll find four small LEDs that can be customized to provide essential information, such as engine RPM.
These LEDs also offer two engine-speed modes to choose from: GT or single-seater. With this unique and user-friendly design, you’ll have all the control you need at your fingertips.
New quick release system designed to complement T818
The new 488 GT3 Wheel Add-On introduces a significant innovation to Thrustmaster’s lineup. With its built-in quick-release system, it eliminates the need for a screwdriver to swap wheels, making it more convenient than ever.
This innovation is particularly exciting because it is the first device to feature the new system.
Even if you have an older Thrustmaster base, there’s an adaptor available to make the new wheel compatible.
It’s great to see Thrustmaster expanding its ecosystem to match the enhanced torque and move upmarket of the T818. In addition to the 488, there are also plans for a new rally wheel later in the year.
