Assetto Corsa Rally does not support VR. Not natively, not through SteamVR, not through OpenXR. I checked the Steam page on 9 October 2026 and the requirements box still reads "VR Support: Not supported for Early Access launch".

So there are no VR settings to give you yet. What I can give you is every statement the studio has made about it, the date they are aiming for, and what to do with your headset in the meantime. I will turn this page into a settings page the day VR ships.

Two things to read into that table.

First, the studio has never put a version number on VR. Not 0.7, not 1.0. "Toward the end of 2026" is the closest thing to a date on record, and it came from a Q&A stream, not from a patch note.

Second, every update from 0.2 to 0.6 was announced on Steam a few days before it shipped, with a "What's coming" post. When VR is in one of those posts, it is real. Until then it is a plan.

Zonca also said in July that the game will stay in Early Access until the simulation is where the team wants it. So do not expect VR to arrive with a 1.0 label. It can come in any 0.x update.

Why there is no date

The honest reason is in the March quote. Supernova is a small team and the online mode took most of them through the first half of 2026. Rally sims are also a harder VR job than circuit sims: the stages are long, the scenery is dense, and the frame rate has to hold at 90 with two eyes rendered while the car is bouncing through a forest.

Reports from the July Q&A also say the team is building quad view rendering into the VR mode. Quad view renders the centre of each eye at full resolution and the edges at a lower one. On a headset with eye tracking it follows your eyes, on one without it the sharp centre is fixed. For a rally sim that is the right call, because you spend the whole stage looking into the next corner and the trees at the edge of the lens can stay soft. I could not confirm that line in the Italian write-up of the same Q&A, so take it as a report, not a promise.

What a headset can do with the game today

Nothing useful. I want to be clear about this, because I see people buy the game expecting a workaround.

  • Virtual Desktop, Steam Theatre mode, Big Screen. These show the flat game on a big virtual screen inside the headset. You get a 2D picture on a wall, no depth, no head tracking in the car. It costs frames to render and you lose the sharpness of your monitor. If you want to try it, it works like any flat game. It is not VR.
  • vorpX and similar injectors. They can force a stereo view into some DirectX games. I have not tested one on Assetto Corsa Rally and I will not recommend one for a game that gets patched every few weeks and has an anti-cheat for its online mode. If a patch breaks it, you find out mid stage.
  • Mods. Zonca said modding is not coming before version 1.0. There is no official way to add a VR mode.

So the game is a monitor game until the studio says otherwise. Triple screens are supported, and that is the best wide view you can get in it today. My Assetto Corsa Rally guide has the PC requirements for a triple setup.

Should you buy it now if you only drive in VR?

No. Wait.

The game is in Early Access, so the price has not gone up and it is not going away. Buy it the week VR ships, when you can read what headsets are supported and how it runs. Buying now gets you nothing you cannot get later, and if the VR mode turns out to need a bigger graphics card than you have, you have paid for a game you cannot drive the way you want.

If you drive on a monitor as well, that is a different question. The game is good on a wheel and a screen, and version 0.6 has 18 cars and five locations. The car table in my Assetto Corsa Rally guide tells you if the cars you want are in.

What to drive in VR in the meantime

Two rally games have VR on PC today, and one old one has it through a mod.

EA Sports WRC got its VR mode on PC on 30 April 2024 with update 1.8.0, as a beta, and it is still the newest rally game with VR. It runs on Unreal Engine 4 and it is heavy, so a mid range card means lowering the stage detail. My EA Sports WRC guide covers the rest of the game.

DiRT Rally 2.0 is older, lighter and still the easiest rally game to run in a headset. It is often on sale for very little.

Richard Burns Rally with the RallySimFans package is the one the hardcore drivers use, and the VR comes from the community. My Richard Burns Rally guide explains how the package works. The VR part needs a bit of patience with settings, but the physics are the reason the game is still alive 20 years on.

What I will test the day VR ships

So you know what to come back for. When Supernova adds VR, this page gets:

  • Which runtime it uses, OpenXR or SteamVR, and which headsets are on the list.
  • A resolution and render scale that holds 90 frames on an RTX 3070 class card, which is the recommended card on the Steam page today.
  • Whether quad view is in, and what it does on a Quest 3 without eye tracking.
  • Where the seat position and the co-driver volume live, because both matter more in a headset than on a screen.
  • Whether the Steam Deck note on the store page changes. It will not run VR there, but the graphics presets may move.

Until then, if you have a question about the game itself, the pillar guide has the cars, the stages, the price and the PC requirements, and I update it with every version. If you are waiting for a console version instead, that story is on my Assetto Corsa Rally PS5 page.

FAQ

Does Assetto Corsa Rally support VR?

No. On 9 October 2026 the Steam requirements box says "VR Support: Not supported for Early Access launch". Version 0.6 has no VR mode.

When is VR coming to Assetto Corsa Rally?

The only target on record is from the game director, Irvin Zonca, in the community Q&A of 16 July 2026: the aim is 2026, toward the end of the year. No version number has been named.

Will VR arrive with version 1.0?

Not necessarily. Zonca said the game will stay in Early Access until the simulation is where the team wants it, and VR is on the list of things that come during Early Access, not after it.

Can I play Assetto Corsa Rally on a Quest 3 now?

Only as a flat game on a virtual screen, through Virtual Desktop or Steam's theatre mode. There is no head tracking in the car and no depth. It is not VR.

Does it support OpenXR or SteamVR?

Neither, because there is no VR mode. The runtime will be known when the mode ships. EA Sports WRC uses OpenXR and DiRT Rally 2.0 uses SteamVR or the Oculus PC runtime, for comparison.

Does Assetto Corsa Rally support triple screens?

Yes. The Steam page lists full triple screen support. That is the widest view you can get in the game today.

Which rally game should I play in VR instead?

EA Sports WRC if you want the newest game, DiRT Rally 2.0 if you want the lightest one for your graphics card, and Richard Burns Rally with the RallySimFans package if the physics matter more than the graphics.
