Le Mans Ultimate does not have a career mode. On 9 October 2026 the single player side of the game is race weekends you set up yourself, plus the special events and online championships. The career mode exists in screenshots and in two dated promises from Motorsport Games, and the second promise says later in 2026.
This page is every statement on record, what the screenshots show, and what I would do with the game while waiting. I checked the official news page and the Steam page on 9 October 2026 before writing.
Is there a career mode in Le Mans Ultimate?
No. What the game has in single player on 9 October 2026:
| Mode | What it is |
|---|---|
| Race weekend | Any car, any track you own, practice, qualifying and race against the AI, with a length and a time of day you choose |
| Special events | Scheduled races with set cars and rules, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans event in the week of 20 October 2026 |
| Online championships | Season 13 opened on 6 October 2026 |
| Daily races | The rotating multiplayer races by licence tier |
The online side is on my Le Mans Ultimate schedule page. There is no championship against the AI with a season, a budget or a contract, and that is what career mode will add.
What has been said, in order
| Date | Who | What was said | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13 June 2025 | Motorsport Games | Career mode announced for the first quarter of 2026: "step into the shoes of an endurance driver, take on team roles, climb the ranks, and experience career-impacting choices based on race results" | lemansultimate.com |
| June 2025 | Stephen Hood, Motorsport Games CEO | "I think it will be the best career mode that exists in racing." Listed insurance, sponsors, contracts, a media opinion rating, cash, a calendar and a driver market | Traxion, 13 June 2025 |
| 1 January 2026 | Motorsport Games, social media | A preview image: an inbox with a contract offer to drive as a supporting driver for a customer team, six races making a season | Race Sim Central, 1 January 2026 |
| 26 March 2026 | Motorsport Games, with update 1.3 | "Given the complexity of this feature, we are determined to give it the necessary time and it is now expected to be delivered later this year." | lemansultimate.com |
| 11 September 2026 | Motorsport Games | Community update about network fixes and the October 24 hour event. Career mode not mentioned | lemansultimate.com |
So the first quarter of 2026 was missed and the current word is later this year, with no month. That is the whole record. Anything more specific you read elsewhere is a guess.

What the career mode will have
This is what Motorsport Games has shown or said, mostly around the 1.3 update in March 2026, when Traxion and others got a look at the screens.
Two ways to start. A young driver with 250,000 dollars, the zero to hero route, or a wealthy amateur with 5 million dollars who can pay for better drives sooner. Those are the two profiles shown; nothing says there will not be more.
Contracts and roles. Offers arrive in an inbox. The January preview showed a supporting driver seat with a customer team for a six race season, with a departing driver named in the message, so the game tracks who drives where. The June 2025 announcement talks about taking on team roles and climbing the ranks, which reads as moving from a customer team's second seat towards a works drive.
Money that moves. Race entry costs and damage bills come out of the budget. Sponsors fill slots on the car and have to be kept happy. Hood also named insurance and a media opinion rating back in 2025.
A season with targets. A calendar, season long targets, a key rival you pick, and difficulty you can change between rounds. Career statistics cover races, wins, podiums, retirements and fastest laps, with a chart of position, target, difficulty, rank and balance over time.
The atmosphere. An in-game social feed with real people from the championship. The screens showed Alexa Rendell, who presents the WEC broadcast, Michelle Gatting of Iron Dames and Porsche driver Laurens Vanthoor.
Driver swaps. The June 2025 post says swaps will be integral to the mode. That fits: in a real WEC season you share the car, and the game already has swaps in multiplayer.
Skipping the boring bits. An in-race menu with the track map and the option to skip the parts of a long race you are not driving.

Will you need all the DLC?
No, by the developers' own description. For a career round on a circuit or in a car you do not own, the options shown are to buy the DLC, to replace the event with one on a circuit you own, or to skip it. The full season is still built from the WEC and ELMS content, so a career with no DLC will be a shorter or more repetitive one. My Le Mans Ultimate track list shows which circuits are in the base game and which are packs.
When will the career mode come out?
Nobody has said more than later this year. Here is how I read it.
The delay was announced on 26 March 2026 with the words "the necessary time". Six months later the September community update was about network code and the October 24 hour race, not about career. That does not mean the mode is in trouble. It means the studio is not drip feeding it, which is what they did before the March reveal too: silence, then screens.
If it lands in 2026 at all, the window is October to December, and the big online event of the year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the week of 20 October, is probably not the week they would pick to ship a mode that changes the single player game. That is my reading, not information. When a date appears this page gets it the same day.
What I would do while waiting
I have raced with budgets and contracts for real, in F3 and GT3, and the thing a career mode gets right when it is good is consequences: a crash costs money, a bad weekend costs a seat. You can build some of that yourself today.
- Run a season by hand. Pick a class, LMGT3 if you are new, and run the real calendar as race weekends, one a week, same car, same AI level. Keep a sheet. My Le Mans Ultimate setups page has the starting points for each car.
- Use the special events as your big rounds. They are the closest thing to a championship weekend the game has, and the 24 hour event in October is the one to plan the month around.
- Learn driver swaps now. The mode will lean on them. Multiplayer endurance races teach the pit menu and the handover before the career mode asks you to do it with your own money.
- Decide on the DLC later. Do not buy packs for a career mode that has no date. Buy the circuit you want to race this week.
If you are waiting for the game itself rather than the mode, on console the answer is the same as it was: not yet. My Le Mans Ultimate PS5 page has that record.
FAQ
Does Le Mans Ultimate have a career mode?
Not on 9 October 2026. Single player is race weekends against the AI plus the scheduled special events. Career mode is in development.
When is the Le Mans Ultimate career mode release date?
There is none. It was due in the first quarter of 2026, and on 26 March 2026 Motorsport Games moved it to later this year without a date.
What will the career mode include?
Two starting profiles with different budgets, contract offers, sponsors, entry fees and damage costs, a season calendar with targets and a rival, adjustable difficulty, a social feed, career statistics and driver swaps.
Do I need the DLC for career mode?
No. The developers say events on content you do not own can be bought, replaced with a circuit you own, or skipped.
Will the career mode be free?
Nothing has been said about a price. It has always been described as a game update, not a pack, but that is not a confirmation.
Is there a championship against the AI today?
No. You can run race weekends one at a time and keep your own standings. The online championships are the only structured seasons in the game.
Will career mode be on PS5 and Xbox?
The game is PC only on 9 October 2026, so the question is open. Console versions have no date either.
