After all, in the present scenario, an entire joystick is a remnant of the past and has no relevance in the world of racing.

It is futile to expect online races in Assetto Corsa, ACC, or iRacing to be victorious without this mode of racing.

And now you may be considering an enhancement of your sim rig, seeking a top shelf fanatec wheel to take your immersion into sim racing to a different scale.

The Thrustmaster TMX Wheel Review

Lucky for you today, we have one of the best looking and most optimized wheels available on the market, the Thrustmaster TMX.

It has a detachable wheel and pedals along with a sturdy clamping system that fits in 99 percent of the race simulation cockpits.

To enhance the overall experience, it also has a pair of paddle shifters that are built into the design very well.

Now we can move on to the important part, which is the specification breakdown followed by our review of TMX.

Does the TMX come with a wheel base?

Yes it does and that’s really great considering that most of the racing wheels in the market require it to be purchased separately.

What about its force feedback (FFB)?

The Thrustmaster TMX actually has a really advanced working force feedback FFB system that allows drivers to really feel the realism out on the track.

The force feedback establishes the connection through a brushless servomotor, which enables it to provide a strong, accurate, and consistent driving force feedback.

Equipped with a dual motor system, the wheel allows you to recollect a rather authentic experience.

Right, it’s not as advanced as the Fanatec’s force feedback system but considering the current price it’s being sold, it makes a lot of sense.

What one can concieve is that it can sometimes give a 100º rotation of the Thrustmaster TMX actuator which is just amazing, this just automatically immerses you within the necessities for a sim racing game.

Is it good for beginners?

Sure, yes, the TX is arguably the best choice for drivers who are looking to first enter into the world of sim racing.

The wheel is indeed rather inexpensive compared with other seat packages while enjoying most of the features as other top brands in the line up.

The TX is a wheel that’s created to ensure that sim racing is an activity enjoyed by everyone, no matter the level of racing.

What games are compatible with it?

  • iRacing
  • ACC
  • Assetto Corsa
  • rFactor
  • Forza 5
  • Gt Sport
  • and more…

What’s included in the box?

What’s included in the box?

The Thrustamster TMX comes with:

  • The actual steering wheel
  • Integrated FFB
  • The et of pedals
  • Integrated paddle shifters
  • USB cable
  • Instrution manual

Is it easy to setup?

Installing the Thrustmaster TMX should not be a problem, you only need the proper sim racing cockpit to start. The wheel comes with a clamping system that will fit 99% of cockpits, therefore you don’t need to buy an adapter if your cockpit is compatible. The pedals will fit pretty much every sim racing cockpit as well.

Can I use it on PS4 and PS5?

The excellent thing with this steering wheel is that you can use it on not only a Playstation 4 but a Playstation 5 also. The wheel is completely functional with Sony’s new console without problems. That’s probably great news for all those Ps5 users out there

Does it work on PC and Laptop?

Yes, but not all games I think may work with the Thrustmaster TMX for Windows.

Also remember that the graphics for the majority of sim racing softwares are not highly optimized on Laptop, so the experience may not be very realistic.

You will be able to use your wheel on your PC, but some games may cause you issues.

Will it make me faster?

I am almost sure it would definitely improve the times of a person who has been racing with joystick for example.

Thrustmaster TMX foot pedals without a doubt are a great way to expand your sim racing in a different way.

Now with wheels like the Thrustmaster TMX, it definitively puts you ahead on most of the other competitors so long as you put in the time to change your driving style accordingly.

The wheel will feel great while driving and will definitely improve your racing skills.

Depending on how much time you’ll spend with it, it will surely assist you to set personal best and hopefully win online races. 😉

How much does it cost?

It’s quite obvious that this racing wheel will not be the cheapest and goes for about 500 bucks.

For what it looks like 500 bucks it is not that much since it does not go close to Fanatec’s line of products.

I understand that 500 dollars is an impressive amount for most users But, if you think how often do you use it calculating the number of races that you do online, the ROI would be reasonable.

Where can I get it?

Where can I get it?

You can buy it on Amazon, and I would suggest that you visit this page to see the latest price and user feedback on it.

Bottom line: is it worth it?

So is the Thrutmaster TMX reall worth the money?

In such a case, if you want a good quality wheel that has a realistic feeling overall driving experience, then the answer is definetely yes!

Quality and driving performance of the wheel is just great in general.

What’s great about this model is that it is not overly high priced and when combined with its outstanding quality, this wheel is sure to withstand the rigors of racing partnerships for a long time.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for a lower cost solution, there are many other cheap options that can be found in the market.

In conclusion, I believe that the Thrustmaster TMX is quite a good purchase especially for entry level sim racers but generally for all sim racers i do feel it will be a good fit.

Well if you want to take sim racing season seriously, then yes this the way to go about it.

Hope that was useful and as always, happy racing 🙂
