The Hungaroring is all corners. One straight, and then you do not stop turning until you are back on it.
The McLaren 720S GT3 Evo is the reference car here. Behind it, four cars are tied at 5 kg: the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, the Ferrari 296 GT3, the Ford Mustang GT3 and the Porsche 992 GT3 R.
So the picture is simple. One car slightly ahead, four level behind it, and all five are good choices.
The lap itself, corner by corner, is in my Hungaroring track guide. If setups are new to you, read the ACC setup guide first. The car choice matters less than getting the pressures right.
The best cars at the Hungaroring: the short answer
| Car | Full Grip BoP | Layout | How you get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| McLaren 720S GT3 Evo | 0 kg (reference) | Mid engine | Free update |
| Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II | -5 kg | Mid engine | Challengers Pack |
| Ferrari 296 GT3 | -5 kg | Mid engine | 2023 GT World Challenge Pack |
| Ford Mustang GT3 | -5 kg | Front engine | Free update |
| Porsche 992 GT3 R | -5 kg | Rear engine | 2023 GT World Challenge Pack |
The numbers come from Full Grip Motorsport's BoP for Hungaroring, read on 5 October 2026. It is a league balance built from hotlap pace, not the official one in the game.
It works with ballast. The quickest car at each track is the reference at 0 kg. Every other car runs lighter to keep up. The more weight a car has taken off, the further it is from the pace there. I only show their top five. The full table is on their site.
Four cars at the same weight in second place. Their order in the table and below is mine, not theirs.
1. McLaren 720S GT3 Evo

With one short straight and fourteen corners, drag costs almost nothing at the Hungaroring. So you run a lot of wing, and the car with the most downforce wins.
That is the McLaren. It is strongest in the middle sector, where medium speed corners follow each other with no rest.
It works its tyres harder than the others, and this track is hot and hard on tyres. Over one lap it is the best. Over a stint you have to manage it. It is a free update.
2. Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II

The Audi is quick through the flowing middle sector and it changes direction well in the chicane. The rear needs care on the exits of turn 1 and turn 2, where you want traction with steering lock on.
3. Ferrari 296 GT3

The easiest of the four tied cars and the kindest on tyres. At a track where the tyres never get a rest, that counts for more than the table shows. This is my race pick.
Other cars that work at the Hungaroring
- Ford Mustang GT3 (-5 kg). Level with three mid and rear engine cars on the twistiest track in the base game. That says a lot about how good this car is everywhere. Stable, free and easy.
- Porsche 992 GT3 R (-5 kg). The traction car. The Hungaroring has many slow and medium exits, and the Porsche drives out of them better than anything. It needs a tidy entry.
- Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 (-11 kg). Eleven kilos off. Agile in the middle sector, lively at the rear on the exits.
What the Hungaroring rewards
Downforce, rotation and tyres that last.
People call it a kart track for cars and they are right. It is the same in karting: on a track with no straights, the lap is made in how early you can get back to full throttle, corner after corner.
The first sector is the straight, a hard stop for turn 1 and the downhill turn 2. The middle sector is the heart of it. Turn 4 is fast and blind over a crest. Then a run of medium speed corners where one mistake carries through the next three.
There is no rest for the tyres. Fronts and rears are loaded for the whole lap, and the track is usually hot.
A car that rotates without sliding is what you want. Sliding feels fast here and it kills the tyres.
What the pro drivers say
Coach Dave Academy asked its pro drivers to rank the GT3 cars in April 2026. They do not name a specialist for the Hungaroring, but they put the Ford Mustang GT3 first everywhere, with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo behind it.
Full Grip has the Mustang in the group tied for second here, at -5 kg. So the two are close but not the same. One is pro drivers judging a car over a race distance on the official balance. The other is hotlap pace turned into ballast for a league. Different questions, different answers.
The best car for beginners at the Hungaroring
The Ferrari 296 GT3 if you own it. Five kilos off, friendly and easy on its tyres.
If you do not, the Ford Mustang GT3 is at the same weight and it is free. It is stable and it will not surprise you in turn 4.
Sprint races and endurance races
Passing at the Hungaroring is famously hard. Turn 1 is the one real place, with turn 2 as a second try if you get a run. In a sprint race, qualify in the McLaren and stay in front.
In a long race tyres decide everything. I would take the Ferrari. The McLaren is quicker early in the stint and then you start to manage it.
Be patient in traffic. The lap is short and narrow, and lunges into the middle sector end in the gravel.
Pick the car you know
Five cars within 5 kg on a track where tyre care decides the stint. The driver matters more than the car here. If you are still choosing, I go through the whole class in the fastest GT3 cars in ACC and through the way I would decide in how to choose a car in ACC.

FAQ
What is the fastest car at the Hungaroring in ACC?
In Full Grip Motorsport's track by track BoP, read on 5 October 2026, it is the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, with the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II next at -5 kg. That is league data built from hotlap pace, not an official ranking.
Is the Ford Mustang GT3 the best car at the Hungaroring?
Not in Full Grip's data. It sits second here at -5 kg. Coach Dave's pro drivers still rate it the fastest GT3 car across the game, so it is never a bad choice. It is just not the standout at the Hungaroring.
What is the best car for beginners at the Hungaroring?
The Ferrari 296 GT3. It is 5 kg off the reference, friendly and easy on tyres. The free Ford Mustang GT3 sits at the same weight and is just as easy.
Why is the Mustang good at a twisty track like the Hungaroring?
It is fast everywhere, not only on straights. Coach Dave's pro drivers rank it first at every track, and Full Grip has it level with the Ferrari 296 and the Porsche 992 here.
How do you save tyres at the Hungaroring in ACC?
Do not slide the car. Slow the entry a little, let it rotate and get on the throttle smoothly. Check that your pressures are in the window when hot, because the track is usually warm.
Do I need DLC to race at the Hungaroring?
No. It is one of the eleven tracks of the base game.
Does the balance of performance change from track to track?
Yes. ACC uses a different balance for each circuit, which is why the fastest car is not the same everywhere. Leagues such as Full Grip Motorsport and Low Fuel Motorsport can run their own custom BoP on top of that.
