Looking to get started in sim racing on PS4, but don’t know where to begin?

There’s a surprisingly large selection of sim racing games on PlayStation 4 due to its console players’ popularity.

In fact you can find anything from Assetto Corsa to Formula 1 21!

So what are some good sim racing games for PS4?

Fortunately, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide you will discover five of the best PS4 sim racing games most favored by gamers.

You’ll learn about the main features offered in each game, what you should expect to pay and other helpful details.

Here’s the complete list:

  • Assetto Corsa
  • Assetto Corsa Competizione
  • Formula 1 2021
  • Gran Turismo Sport
  • Project cars 3

Let’s now have a look at each game more closely.

Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa is one of the most popular games among sim racers and for a good reason.

Developed by Italian company Kunos Simulazioni, Assetto Corsa boasts an impressive tracklist with many real-world laser scanned circuits.

Aimed initially at professional racing drivers, this game is of course equally suited to sim racers of all levels. A custom mode lets you configure the level of simulation to your liking.

So what should you expect from Assetto Corsa? The first thing that makes this a unique experience is the inclusion of race weekends.

Here you will participate in practice sessions, qualifying rounds and Races designed to be as faithful as possible to those held in real life. Be aware that the realism here is high!

This game provides excellent immersion thanks to its sound effects, visuals and overall mechanics.

Assetto Corsa Competizione

You might be wondering about the difference between the first Assetto Corsa and its Competizione successor.

In a nutshell, Competizione is an official Blancpain GT series video game.

Developed by Kunos once again, this game offers an even better simulation than the original Assetto Corsa and boasts 25 of the most iconic GT3 cars.

In my opinion ACC is together with iRacing the best professional simulation software where even the PROs come to craft their skills and race online to win prizes and competitions.

Assetto Corsa Competizione

The level of realism is just insane and takes the immersion to a whole new level that you have never experienced before in a sim racing game.

Unfortunately though, the car selection is limited since you only get to race with GT3 or GT4 cars.

If you want to have access to more vehicle types then check out our Assetto Cors review.

Formula 1 2021

The official F1 game is essentially a simulator that is as close to real life F1 races as possible with a very realistic driving experience.

This game lets you compete in the official F1 events and championships.

It’s target is to deliver an experience as close as possible to the real F1 racing including all the official drivers and even Formula 2 drivers.

Formula 1 2021

In fact, the game is packed with all the current drivers who have been racing for real during the 2020/2021 season.

Sim racers can expect to find all the official tracks and circuits that were part of this championship.

The graphics are also stunning which makes the whole realism experience really amazing.

If you’re looking for a realistic simulator that is as close to real life F1 racing, then I strongly recommend checking this out.

Gran Turismo Sport

GT Sport is one of the most popular sim racing games in recent years.

It was developed by Polyphony Digital and set in a world-class game environment and physics engine.

The GT Sport game is completely immersive and visually stunning. Players will enjoy photo-realistic graphics, real world physics and driving models, and a fully redesigned interface that makes it easier to access all the features.

Gran Turismo Sport

The game was met with mostly positive reviews when it first came out for Playstation 4 back in October 2017.

Many players praised the excellent graphics and visuals, while some were disappointed with the physics of the game claiming that was not as realistic as Asseto Corsa.

While GT Sport doesn’t have a huge car roster, players have access to a good list of GT3 cars including the McLaren, Audi R8 LMS, Mercedes AMG, BMW GT3 and the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3.

Project cars 3

Last but not least we’ve got Project cars 3.

This game is also available for PC and console including Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Project cars 3 was developed by Slightly Mad studios and set in a racing environment powered by a quite realistic physics engine.

Graphics are stunning and so is the sound quality, which makes this a very immersive experience.

Project cars 3

The biggest difference between this game and Assetto Corsa is that Project cars has a much bigger car roster consisting of over 170 unique models as well as more than 60 tracks.

Project Cars 3 was met with mostly positive reviews when it first came out in September 2018.

The main complaints were related to the game’s career mode which lacks a lot of features found in most other sim racing games such as F1 2021.

Can you play iRacing on PS4?

Unfortunately not since iRacing is restricted to PCs only. You can’t run it on any console including Playstation 4 or Xbox One.

Alright so here were my top 5 picks for the best sim racing games on PlayStation 4.
