Sim racing is such a great sport that everybody is starting to realize the beauty of it

In fact , there are so many people who want to join the fun that sim racing leagues are popping up all over the place.

Just about any motorsport you can think of has some form of sim racing league associated with it, from NASCAR to IndyCar to even Formula 1.

Why I feel Sim racing is better than real life racing

Why I feel Sim racing is better than real life racing

The great thing about sim racing leagues is that they offer a level playing field compared to what you can get in real life racing.

Money cannot buy talent in sim racing

For instance , in real life racing, some drivers have more experience or better equipment than others, which gives them a distinct advantage.

But in sim racing leagues, all drivers are using the same software and hardware (not always the same), so it’s essentially a level playing field.

This makes for some very exciting races, as anyone has a chance to win on any given race or championship.

Insane levels of competition

The other thing that makes me really passionate about sim racing is the extremely high level of competition there is.

You’ll get drivers to race with you who are very hard to beat.

Still, sim racing is not everyone’s cup of tea. Sim racers themselves can be quite elitist at times.

I know some drivers would look down on people who consider them “sim racers” simply because they don’t race in real life or because they never even raced in gokarts.

But that to me is a complete stupid point.

You don’t have to be a god of racing by having raced expensive cars in real life.

Sim racing is all about using your skills and knowledge to beat other drivers in a virtual race.

You don’t need any expensive equipment or experience in real life racing to do that.

Jump in on the motorsport trend of the future

So if you want to get into sim racing, don’t let anyone stop you. Just jump in and have some fun!

You will learn a ton of new things by spending enough time sim racing, especially about car handling and racecraft.

There are a few things you will need to get started, such as a good gaming PC or console, a racing wheel, and some good racing games (or just one of the best like ACC or iRacing).

Jump in on the motorsport trend of the future

But once you have those, you are ready to go.

Just head over to one of the many sim racing leagues out there and sign in.

There’s plenty of exciting oportunities out there.

You just need to set out some time to practice and you’re ready to go.

Long term investments in Technology and Engineering

Moreover, I feel that sim racing is really the future of mororsport.

Think about it, with all the incentives that car companies are receiving towards electric vehicles development and autonomous driving cars, I believe most of the real life racing will disappear.

And so probably 99% of real life drivers.

Don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t make me happy.

It’s just to say that’s what very likely to happen.

In a few years, all the races will be simulated and that’s why we need to get good at it.

If you just “follow the money” and put yourself in the head of all of those car manufacturing companies that are working at complex AI algorithms to make autonomous cars a reality.

What do you think they’ll prefer to invest in for the long term?

Gas powered cars driven by humans or electric self driving cars?

I think the answer is pretty obvious.

Huge growth in sim racing drivers since 2019

Sim racing is such a great sport that it is starting to become extremely popular these days.

Assetto Corsa already counts more than 15.000 users per months and that number is set to increase in the near future.

iRacing has also seen a spectacular growth recently with more than 5.000 users on average per month and a lot of sim racing championships going on with a large number of participants.

Huge growth in sim racing drivers since 2019

Compared to the early days, sim racing is growing enormously fast these days and can easily rival real life motorsports as it already does at some occasions.

In some ways, I feel that if you want to become a pro at sim racing you really need to get in now before it gets too late and crowded with elite drivers.

Real racing drivers are set to jump on the new trend?

A trend I feel it’s likely to continue is seeing pro Gt3 real life drivers entirely change career and get to be sim drivers instead.

That’s already happening to some drivers right now.

Bu this trend is set to continue in my opinion.

F1 is starting to pay close attention to Sim racing

Toto Wolff is already started showing interest at the idea of making sim racing part of Mercedes F1’s team core activities, even more than what’s going on right now.

Here’ s what he declared at an F1 interview regarding Hamilton relationship with simulators:

“Yes, the simulator wasn’t his most favourite tool in the past but I think we’ve developed it to a level that is quite good and made it best in class, and he’s started to see the benefits of it.

“This fight is so tough that you need to just grab every single marginal gain, and that’s why we’ve progressed together to better understand the car also with the tool of the simulator.”

I hope to see more teams bringing this idea up too.
