Wreckfest 2 has 21 vehicles in the current Early Access build: 18 cars and 3 special vehicles. Early Access started on 20 March 2025 with 4 cars, and the other 17 came in eight free content updates.
Below is every car with the update that added it, the cars grouped by type, what is announced next, and where I would start.
Checked on 15 October 2026 against the official Wreckfest 2 Steam store page (the Early Access content section), every official update note on Steam from the launch post to Content Update #8 Patch #2, and Dev Blog #03 from 28 August 2026. The launch roster names come from the Wreckfest Fandom wiki and are labelled where used. Where something is not published, I say so.

Every car in Wreckfest 2
The type in the second column is the way Bugbear describes the car in its own update notes or on the Steam page. Where the two wordings differ, I give both.

| Jackal | American '80s RWD (coupe on Steam) | Content Update #8, 30 June 2026 |
That is 21 vehicles. The count matches what Bugbear wrote for server owners after Content Update #6: "car01 - car14" plus the School Bus and the Motorhome. Since then Content Update #7 added two cars and Half a Crusader, and Content Update #8 added two more cars.
Every update here was free for owners of the game. No paid car pack is listed in the official news. The "Driver's License DLC" posted on 1 April 2026 was an April Fools joke, not a real pack.
Which real cars are they based on?
Bugbear gives every car a made-up name and does not say which real car it is modelled on. Not on the Steam page, not in the update notes, not in the in-game descriptions quoted on the wiki. So I do not put a real model next to any car in this list. You will see fan guesses online. They are guesses.
The only real cars Bugbear has named are sound sources, in Dev Blog #03 on 28 August 2026:
- Bravion. The source car is a BMW E39 with a 2.5 litre straight six, built for ice racing.
- Rocket. The engine sound comes from a 1965 El Camino with a swapped 6.2 litre GM LS3 V8, used for autocross. Bugbear says "This LS3 is the source for our in-game car Rocket."
That tells you what the car sounds like. It does not tell you the body is an El Camino or an E39, and I would not read it that way.
American muscle cars and coupes
Six cars, and the biggest group in the game.
RoadSlayer and Rocket are the two '60s and '70s muscle cars from launch day, the ones you see in the trailers. Switchback came with Content Update #3, Hurricane with Content Update #6. Content Update #8 added the Bullet, described in the notes as an American '60s rear-wheel drive car, and the Jackal, an American '80s rear-wheel drive car.
Bugbear only gives the drive layout for the two newest, and both the Bullet and the Jackal are rear-wheel drive. For the other four it does not say.
American sedans and the minivan
Crusader is the '90s intermediate banger from launch. Rammer and Cardinal are the two American large sedans, from Content Updates #1 and #2. Grandstar is the American minivan from Content Update #5.
Crusader also has a second life as Half a Crusader, below in the special vehicles.

European cars
Six European cars. Gizmo is the '80s compact banger from launch. Bravion is the sports sedan from Content Update #1.
Popper and Buggy are the two European folk racing cars, from Content Updates #3 and #4. Folk racing is the Nordic grassroots discipline on mixed surfaces, and the game has folk racing tracks to match: Finncross, Cannonhill and Dalsbanen.
Content Update #7 added the last two. The Stahlwagen is an '00s rear-wheel drive wagon. The Valken is a '90s front-wheel drive hatchback, and the only car in the game Bugbear has described as front-wheel drive.
Asian cars
Two of them. The Phaser is the Asian coupe from Content Update #5. The Nami came with Content Update #6, called a Japanese coupe in the update notes and an Asian roadster on the Steam page.
Special vehicles
These three sit outside the numbered car list. On a dedicated server they have their own names in the car restrictions, motorhome and school_bus, so a host can allow them or keep them out. I cover that setup in my Wreckfest 2 dedicated server guide.
- Motorhome, Content Update #2.
- School Bus, Content Update #6. Content Update #8 revised the engine to make it "a properly turbocharged diesel".
- Half a Crusader, Content Update #7. Bugbear calls it a half-car with a ragdoll driver. Content Update #8 buffed it to make the tail end feel less heavy, and Patch #2 of Content Update #7 fixed the rear end sinking into the ground.

What is coming
Content Update #9 is due on 15 October 2026. Bugbear posted a teaser on 14 October with "a first look at one of the new cars joining the roster", so more than one car is coming. None of them is named yet, and the teaser asks players to guess. When the notes are out I will add the cars here.
Beyond that, the Steam page does not name any future car. It says vehicles will keep coming through Early Access, along with a career mode, skill-based matchmaking, mod support and challenges in "unconventional vehicles" that were never meant for a race track. There is no date for version 1.0 in the official posts I checked.
For everything else in the game, tracks and modes included, start from my Wreckfest 2 guide.
Which car to start with
I am not going to tell you a car feels great or terrible. Bugbear publishes no handling numbers per car, so this rests on what is published: the type, the drive layout and the era.
Look at the numbers in the game, not online. Since Content Update #6 the upgrade screen shows performance points with acceleration and top speed. Since Content Update #7 the lobby shows each car's class and performance points. Since Content Update #8 the tuning screen shows simulated performance stats and the leaderboards are split by class. No official list of those numbers exists outside the game, so compare cars there.
If you are new to driving with a wheel or a pad, start front-wheel drive. The Valken is the only car Bugbear lists as FWD. That is general driving, not a Wreckfest opinion: a front-wheel drive car is more forgiving when you are too early on the throttle out of a corner, because the rear does not step out under power. Set the wheel up first with my Wreckfest 2 wheel settings.
If you want the muscle car experience the trailers sell, pick from the six American muscle cars and coupes. It is the group with the most choice, and the two whose layout Bugbear gives, Bullet and Jackal, are rear-wheel drive.
For the folk racing tracks, use the folk racing cars. Popper and Buggy are the two cars Bugbear calls folk racing cars, built for the same discipline as Finncross, Cannonhill and Dalsbanen.
Leave the special vehicles for fun. A school bus, a motorhome and half a car with a ragdoll driver are there for the chaos, and servers can ban them.
If you came from a sim where every car is a licensed real model, this is a different world. My Le Mans Ultimate car list is the opposite end: every car is a real race car, named by the manufacturer.

What are the newest cars in Wreckfest 2?
The Bullet and the Jackal, both rear-wheel drive American cars, added with Content Update #8 on 30 June 2026. Content Update #9 brings new cars that were not named when I checked.
What cars did Wreckfest 2 launch with?
