Donington Park belongs to the BMW M4 GT3. It is the reference car and nothing is close.

The Ford Mustang GT3 is 12 kg behind. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT3 is 13 kg behind. After those three there is another big step back to the Audi at 22 kg.

All three on top are front engine cars, and none of them costs anything.

The lap itself, corner by corner, is in my Donington Park track guide. If setups are new to you, read the ACC setup guide first. The car choice matters less than getting the pressures right.

The numbers come from Full Grip Motorsport's BoP for Donington Park, read on 5 October 2026. It is a league balance built from hotlap pace, not the official one in the game.

It works with ballast. The quickest car at each track is the reference at 0 kg. Every other car runs lighter to keep up. The more weight a car has taken off, the further it is from the pace there. I only show their top five. The full table is on their site.

A clear leader, two cars level behind it and then a 9 kg step to fourth. This is one of the most spread out tables in the game.

1. BMW M4 GT3

Donington has two halves. The first is fast and downhill: Redgate, Hollywood, the Craner Curves and the Old Hairpin. The second is two straights and two slow chicane and hairpin corners.

The M4 is stable in the fast part and that matters, because the Craner Curves are taken at high speed, downhill, with the car light. You need to trust it.

Then it rides the kerbs at the chicane better than almost anything and it puts its power down out of the Melbourne Hairpin and Goddards.

Good at both halves. That is why it leads by so much.

2. Ford Mustang GT3

Twelve kilos off. Just as stable through the Craner Curves and stronger on the two straights at the end of the lap. A very good race car here.

3. Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT3

One kilo behind the Mustang. The Aston's braking stability pays into the chicane and the Melbourne Hairpin, which are the two hardest stops of the lap.

Other cars that work at Donington

  • Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II (-22 kg). The best mid engine car, 22 kg off. Fast through the first half and harder work in the slow corners at the end.
  • Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 (-26 kg). Strong on the straights and heavy in the slow corners. Level with the Porsche at -26 kg.
  • Porsche 992 GT3 R (-26 kg). Good traction out of the Melbourne Hairpin and Goddards. It takes care through the Craner Curves, where the light front makes it nervous.

What Donington rewards

Confidence in the first half, traction in the second.

You start with Redgate, a long right hander that sets up everything after it. Then the track drops away through Hollywood into the Craner Curves. It is one of the best pieces of road in the game. Left, then right, downhill and fast, into the Old Hairpin, which is not a hairpin at all.

If the car moves around there, you lift. And if you lift, you lose time through Starkey's Bridge and up the hill to McLeans.

Then Coppice, a blind right over a crest onto the back straight. A good exit there counts all the way down to the chicane.

The last part is stop and go. The chicane, a short straight, the Melbourne Hairpin, another short straight, Goddards.

Mid engine cars are fast in the first half and lose it in the second. Stable front engine cars do both.

What the pro drivers say

Coach Dave Academy asked its pro drivers to rank the GT3 cars in April 2026. They do not name a specialist for Donington, but they put the Ford Mustang GT3 first everywhere, with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo behind it.

Full Grip has the Mustang second here, at -12 kg. So the two do not fully agree. One is pro drivers judging a car over a race distance on the official balance. The other is hotlap pace turned into ballast for a league. Different questions, different answers.

The best car for beginners at Donington

The BMW M4 GT3. Fastest car in the data, most forgiving car in the class and free. Same answer as at the Nurburgring.

The Craner Curves scare everybody at first. The M4 is the car to learn them in.

Sprint races and endurance races

The passing places are all at the end of the lap: the chicane, the Melbourne Hairpin and Goddards. Redgate works too if you get a run out of the last corner.

So the first half is about staying close and the second half is about the move. A car that is stable in dirty air through the Craner Curves helps you do the first part.

For a sprint race, the BMW. For a long race, still the BMW. It is easy on its tyres and it does not bite when you are tired.

Pick the car you know

Donington is one of the exceptions. The BMW's margin here is big enough to feel. If you are still choosing, I go through the whole class in the fastest GT3 cars in ACC and through the way I would decide in how to choose a car in ACC.

FAQ

What is the fastest car at Donington in ACC?

In Full Grip Motorsport's track by track BoP, read on 5 October 2026, it is the BMW M4 GT3, with the Ford Mustang GT3 next at -12 kg. That is league data built from hotlap pace, not an official ranking.

Is the Ford Mustang GT3 the best car at Donington?

Not in Full Grip's data. It sits second here at -12 kg. Coach Dave's pro drivers still rate it the fastest GT3 car across the game, so it is never a bad choice. It is just not the standout at Donington.

What is the best car for beginners at Donington?

The BMW M4 GT3. It is the reference car here by 12 kg, it is forgiving and it is a free update. It is also the right car to learn the Craner Curves in.

How do you take the Craner Curves in ACC?

Get Hollywood right first, because it sets your line. Stay smooth on the steering, use a small lift to settle the car for the left and get back on the throttle early for the right. Do not use much kerb. The car is light downhill.

Which layout of Donington is in ACC?

The Grand Prix layout, with the Melbourne Hairpin loop at the end of the lap.

Do I need DLC to race at Donington?

Yes. It comes in the British GT Pack, together with two other British circuits.

Does the balance of performance change from track to track?

Yes. ACC uses a different balance for each circuit, which is why the fastest car is not the same everywhere. Leagues such as Full Grip Motorsport and Low Fuel Motorsport can run their own custom BoP on top of that.
