Due to the advancement of technology, it is to be expected that the topic of virtual reality is brought up in F1 2021.
However, how does this transform the sport, as well the perception of the viewers, as well as the competitors of the race?
This is indeed a fascinating conversation, because F1 could benefit with the use of VR. Most importantly, the viewing experience could be enhanced significantly.
We do have some insight from other motorsports video games including iRacing, rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa Competizione in regard to the use of VR in F1, motorsport as a whole.
F1 2021 fans are asking for VR
Alas, the F1 2021 video game has not been designed with VR integration at the core of its development.
It is really disappointing for VR fans knowing there are no plans to support VR in the F1 2021 game soon, as announced by Codemasters.
Sim drivers looking for an edge over the competition
It is quite disappointing that those who use VR have not been informed of any expansion plans by Codemasters for the F1 2021 game.
There is no denying F1 2021 Competitors are rather aggressive in the sense that they tend to use the best hardware available to have a competitive edge against their opponents.
There is no denying that VR would amplify the immersion in the game and allow sim racers to grab the best of the features of realistic sim racing.
It would be a huge plus if Codemasters still manages to incorporate VR Support for F1 2022 or better F1 2023 since this would be a big plus for fans of sim racing all over the world.
VR gaming is here to stay
Steam Hardware Survey states that the numbers stand at 24% of gamers having a VR setup and if the reliance on the survey is credible then it’s quite a lot of people when experts still put VR in the ‘niche category’.
That figure will only continue to climb, especially following the launch of stand-alone virtual reality headsets, the Oculus Quest 2 among others.
The time when VR will become mainstream in gaming and eSports is not a matter of if, but rather when. It is still up to the gamers but, many sim racers think that very soon Codemasters should join the race otherwise they would be left very far behind the pack
What the future of virtual reality & F1 2022 – 2023 holds
Well, we’re not sure what the next releases will lead to with the new add ons of the F1 game, but we do believe that Codemasters is working on the integration of VR in other upcoming releases of the F1 series.
The studio has always been listening to the community and they know the gaming and esports are built on the foundations of VR.
And i’m sure that other big studios also have the effort towards V R racing games.
So it’s just a matter of time that VR will be the norm in sim racing games and we can’t wait for that! 🙂
We can only hope that Codemasters will announce VR support for F1 2023 game or even on the contrary. But until then, we’ll have to enjoy F1 2021 game without the v r.
Hope that was useful, see you on track! 🙂
