Forza Horizon 6 gets two paid Premium Expansions. The first one launches on 21 January 2027 on every platform, the same day PS5 Premium owners start their early access. Playground has not given it a name or a location yet, and Expansion 2 has no date at all. Next to the expansions there is the Car Pass: 30 cars, one per week, running since launch.

Checked on 15 October 2026 against Playground Games' posts on forza.net ("Forza Horizon 6 Welcomes More Players on January 26!", 8 October 2026, the Premium Edition pre-order post of 22 January 2026 and the Series 6 post of 5 October 2026) and the US Steam store listings for the game and every add-on. Where Playground has not published something, I say so instead of filling the gap.

One correction before anything else. Some coverage put the first expansion on 21 January 2026. That cannot be right, the game only came out in May 2026. The official date is 21 January 2027.

How many expansions Forza Horizon 6 gets

Two. Playground calls them Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, and its own description is the same for both: a new location to discover, new cars to collect and drive, and new gameplay. That is all the detail there is so far.

For context, Forza Horizon 5 also had two expansions, Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure, and both added a new area to drive. If you want to know what the FH5 Premium Edition package looked like, I covered it in what the Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition includes. Do not read the FH5 pattern as a promise for FH6. Playground has not said anything about the theme.

Expansion 1: what is confirmed

The 8 October post on forza.net says the first Premium Expansion is "coming to all platforms" on 21 January 2027. It is included with the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle at no extra cost, and it will also be sold on its own.

What is still missing:

  • The name. As of 15 October 2026 it is still "Expansion 1" on forza.net, Steam and the Xbox Store.
  • The location and the car list.
  • The standalone price. The Steam page for Expansion 1 has no price, and its release date still reads "Coming soon" with a note that it is a placeholder.

The same day brings a free content update for every player, on top of the expansion. Playground says it will share details closer to release. Free update and expansion are two different things, so do not expect the new location without paying for it.

I will update this page when the name and the content are revealed.

Expansion 2

No date, no name, no location. The pre-order list on forza.net says "available at a later date" and that is the only official line. It is in the PS5 Premium Edition list too, so PS5 owners who buy Premium will get it when it lands.

Which editions include the expansions and the Car Pass

There are three editions plus one upgrade. This is the list as forza.net gives it.

EditionUS price (Steam)Car PassExpansionsAlso included
Standard$69.99NoNoThe full game
Deluxe$99.99YesNoWelcome Pack
Premium$119.99YesExpansion 1 and 2VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, Italian Passion Car Pack
Premium Upgrade$59.99YesExpansion 1 and 2Same extras as Premium. Needs the game or Game Pass

The Premium Upgrade is how Standard and Deluxe owners, and Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass players, get to Premium. The Deluxe Edition does not include the expansions. That is the trap. Deluxe gets you the Car Pass and the Welcome Pack, nothing more.

Every add-on and its price

These are the US list prices on Steam on 15 October 2026. None of them had a discount running when I checked. The Xbox Store lists the Expansions Bundle and the Premium Upgrade at the same $49.99 and $59.99.

Add-onUS priceWhat it is
Expansions Bundle$49.99Expansion 1 and 2, cheaper than buying them one by one

Add the add-ons in the Premium Upgrade up at list price and you get $119.94. The upgrade costs $59.99. So if you want most of it, the upgrade is the cheap way in.

The Car Pass: 30 cars, one per week

The Car Pass delivers 30 new cars, one per week, starting from launch on 19 May 2026. Each car goes into your garage for free, once. If you buy the pass late, every car already released is added straight away, so you do not lose anything by waiting.

New Car Pass cars now drop on Thursdays. The Series 6 post lists the next four:

22 October 20261990 Eunos Cosmo

Playground has not published the full 30-car list in advance or the week the last car arrives. Playground adds every released Car Pass car to the official car list on forza.net, and my Forza Horizon 6 car list tracks the whole game too.

Is the Car Pass worth $29.99 on its own? That is about a dollar a car, and Playground picks the cars, not you. If you are on Standard or Game Pass and want the expansions as well, skip it and buy the Premium Upgrade, because the pass is inside it.

PS5: when the expansions arrive

Forza Horizon 6 launches on PS5 on 26 January 2027 for Standard and Deluxe. Premium Edition owners start five days early, on 21 January 2027. That is the same day Expansion 1 comes out on all platforms, so a PS5 Premium buyer gets the base game and the first expansion on day one.

The PS5 editions match Xbox and PC: Deluxe has the Car Pass, Premium and the Premium Upgrade have the Car Pass and both expansions. The forza.net post does not give PS5 prices. Check the PlayStation Store before you buy. Dates, the pre-order bonus and performance modes are on my Forza Horizon 6 PS5 page, and every date for every platform is on the release date page.

What I would buy

On Standard or Game Pass, and you want the expansions: the Premium Upgrade at $59.99. It has the Car Pass, the VIP Membership and both car packs on top of the two expansions.

On Deluxe already: the Expansions Bundle at $49.99 if you only want the new locations. The upgrade is $10 more for VIP and two small car packs. You already own the Car Pass and the Welcome Pack, so you pay for those twice inside the upgrade.

Not sure yet: wait. Expansion 1 has no name and no content shown. You can buy it alone when it is out, and nothing in the Car Pass expires.

For everything else in the base game, from wristbands to the map, start with my Forza Horizon 6 guide.
