Forza Horizon 6 launches on PS5 on 26 January 2027. If you buy the Premium Edition you get in five days early, on 21 January. Playground Games announced it on forza.net on 8 October 2026, and I read the post again on 11 October.
The Xbox Series X|S and PC version has been out since 19 May 2026. The dates for every platform are on my Forza Horizon 6 release date page.

The game comes on disc at supporting retailers and digitally on the PlayStation Store. The port is by Panic Button, in close collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Panic Button also did the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5.
This is later than Playground had said. Until September the line was "later this year", and the press coverage of the announcement calls it a delay from 2026. The post gives no reason.

The post does not list PS5 prices. Check the PlayStation Store page before you buy. On Xbox and PC the editions were $69.99, $99.99 and $119.99, which are the numbers I would expect, but I have not confirmed them on the Store.
Which one would I buy? The Standard edition if you want to see the game first. The Premium Upgrade, not the Premium Edition, if you want the expansions later. You can buy the first expansion separately as well, so you never have to decide on day one.
Pre-order bonus
Pre-order any edition on the PlayStation Store and you get a pre-tuned Ferrari J50. It lands in your garage after you finish the prologue. It is a bonus for pre-ordering, so there is no reason to wait with the order if you are going to buy anyway.
Performance modes
Two modes are listed.
- Quality: 4K at 30 FPS. The announcement trailer was captured on a base PS5 in this mode.
- Performance: 60 FPS, described as "will also be available". The post gives no resolution for it.
Playground does not mention PS5 Pro support in the post. If you have a PS5 Pro, there is nothing to expect yet.
Cross-play and cross-save
Playground says the PS5 version supports cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions. Your progress follows you, and so does what players make. EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, Estates, Liveries and Tuning Setups are cross-platform from day one.
Online play on PS5 normally needs PlayStation Plus. The post does not mention it, so check that on the Store page too.
What comes with the launch
- The first Premium Expansion, on 21 January 2027 on all platforms. It is included with the Premium Edition and the Premium Upgrade and can be bought on its own. Game Informer's note on it is that the expansion is not free. Its name is not announced.
- A free content update for all players alongside the PS5 launch. Playground says details come closer to release.
What is not announced yet
- Which wheels work on PS5, and what the FFB settings look like. The post is silent on wheels and on DualSense features.
- The size of the download.
- PS5 prices in the announcement itself.
I will fill these in when they are confirmed. Until then my Forza Horizon 6 wheel settings and controller settings are the Xbox and PC versions.
Should you wait or play something now?
If PS5 is your only console, you have about three and a half months. Forza Horizon 5 is already on PS5. It is the same series from the same studio, so the habits carry over, and it is a good way to get a controller or a wheel ready. My FH5 controller settings are a good place to start.
If you have a PC that runs the game, the Forza Horizon 6 system requirements show whether it will. Then there is nothing to wait for. The game is on Game Pass and Steam.
