Forza Horizon 6 System Requirements: Can You Run It?

Forza Horizon 6 asks for more than the last game in two places: memory and storage. The graphics card requirement at the bottom is still modest. A GTX 1650 runs it.

So if you are asking "can I run it", check your RAM and your free SSD space first. That is where most older PCs fall short, not the graphics card.

Forza Horizon 6 minimum system requirements

The target here is 1080p on the Low preset at 60 fps.

Those are six core processors from 2017 and a graphics card class from 2019. If your PC is from the last five or six years and was built for games, the processor and graphics card are probably fine.

The 16 GB of RAM is the part to check. Many budget PCs and laptops from that era shipped with 8 GB.

Recommended system requirements

The target is 1440p on the High preset at 60 fps or more.

This is the tier I would aim for. 60 fps at 1440p on High is where the game looks like the trailers and still responds the way a driving game should.

Extreme and Extreme ray tracing specs

Two things stand out.

The memory climbs with the tier. 24 GB for 4K, 32 GB with ray tracing. If you have a strong graphics card and 16 GB of RAM, the RAM is your limit on these presets.

There is no Intel graphics card in the top two tiers. The Arc cards are listed for minimum and recommended only.

The game supports DLSS 4, FSR 3 and FSR 4, and XeSS 2.1. The frame rate is uncapped. Once you know which tier you are on, the values to run are in my Forza Horizon 6 best settings.

How much storage does Forza Horizon 6 need?

The download itself is smaller. At preload it was about 146 GB on PC and about 135 GB on Xbox. The extra space on PC is room to unpack and patch.

It has to be an SSD. Every tier requires one, and the two extreme tiers ask for NVMe. On a hard drive an open world game loads the map late, and at speed you arrive before the road does.

These are launch figures. The game has been patched since, and add-on content makes it bigger, so leave some margin. On a 512 GB Series S, this one game takes about a quarter of the drive.

What stops most PCs from running it

In order of how often it is the problem:

1. 8 GB of RAM. The game needs 16. This is the cheapest part to fix on a desktop. On a laptop, check whether the memory can be replaced before you buy.
2. No free SSD space. 160 GB is a lot on a 500 GB drive. A hard drive does not count.
3. An old Windows version. You need 22H2 or newer. Run Windows Update before you install.
4. A graphics card below the GTX 1650 class. Older cards and most integrated graphics in desktops fall under the minimum.

If you clear all four, the game starts. How well it runs is a settings question.

Coming from Forza Horizon 5

A PC that ran FH5 on High with 16 GB of RAM and an SSD is close to the recommended tier here. A PC that only just ran FH5, on 8 GB and a hard drive, needs both replaced.

Steam Deck and handhelds

Forza Horizon 6 is Verified on Steam Deck. Playground Games confirmed that before launch, and said the game is also optimised for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X.

On the Deck, expect 30 fps. GameWatcher's test recommends a 30 fps target at 1280x800 with FSR on Balanced and most settings on Low. The open roads run above that. Tokyo is the heavy part. The OLED model can be set to 45.

That is one test, and I have not run the game on a Deck myself. Take 30 fps as the safe number.

The storage is the real question on a handheld. 160 GB does not fit on the smaller Deck models with anything else installed. The same test reports that the game runs fine from a microSD card.

Xbox and PS5

On Xbox there is nothing to check except free space. The game runs on Series X and Series S. It is not on Xbox One.

The PS5 version is announced for 2026 with no date. I track that on my Forza Horizon 6 release date page.

Do you need a wheel?

No. The game is built for a controller. A wheel works well and adds no load on the PC. If you have one, my Forza Horizon 6 wheel settings cover every major brand.
