All those add up to nearly 100 different types of cars to race on iRacing.
Those include the very popular Nascars, Indycars, Gt3s and off road cars.
It’s just incredible to consider how much content is available on the platform.
It’s also incredibly easy to keep track of, since all you have to do is go on their website and see what new cars they’ve added.
We will now take a look at each category in detail starting with the NASCARs.
But before that let’s quickly reply to one of the most frequently asked question.
Are there any free cars in iRacing?
Yes, after signing up to their subscribtion you will then be able to choose among 16 different free cars that will allow you to experiment and get good at it withoout having to spend any extra money.
That’s great for those who are just getting into sim racing scene and wanted to stay within a budget.
Now let’s move on to the NASCARs.
Nascar (29+)
The NASCARs that are available on iRacing are all incredibly realistic and faithfully replicate the real life counterparts.
There are a total of 29 different NASCARs on iRacing as of January 2022.
Those include some historic Nascars such as the 1987 Monte Carlo, as well as the ones from the Nascar Cup Series.
It’s an incredible lineup that never stops growing.
Gt3 Cars (15+)
Next on our list we’ve got Gt3 cars with just above 15 different types of cars.
Including in this category you will also find some of the best GTE cars in the world.
This is a very popular category, and with good reason.
The realism and driving experience you get from a Gt3 car is second to none.
These cars compete at the highest levels in terms of downforce, horsepower and overall speed.
In other words, this is where you want to be if you’re a sim racer looking to race the best of the best.
Openwheelers (9)
One category that iRacing always had was openwheel racing cars and that’s for a good reason.
These cars are extremely fun to drive and some of them can reach dizzying speeds like the Dallara iR-01 or the Mercedes AMG F1 replica.
A lot of people simply love the Indycar or F1 style of racing, and iRacing has never disappointed in terms of offering the best.
Dirt track cars (16)
The dirt track cars are a unique bunch.
They offer a driving experience that is different than any of the other types of cars on iRacing due to the fact they don’t have any aerodynamic grip.
There’s a lot of sliding and tire spinning on dirt tracks which is waaay different from what you will get driving on road tracks and Ovals.
If you prefer the dirt tracks over the Gt3 cars or nascar, then definitely check them out.
Also, remmeber that their sprint cars are included in this category.
Prototypes (9)
From LMP1s to LMP2s, prototypes have always been rock stars on iRacing.
They offer a driving experience that is unique and can be incredibly challenging, but also rewarding when you finally learn how to properly control them.
Be it on road courses or on ovals these cars are always a thrill to drive.
Rally cross (3)
If you’re a rally cross fan then iRacing also has got you covered.
There are only 3 rally cross cars in total, but they’re all very well made.
The Subaru, Ford Fiesta and VW Beetle all offer a realistic driving sensation.
Off road cars (3)
Last but not least, we’ve got the off road cars.
These cars are real beasts.
You won’t realize how fast you’re going until you hit a big jump and fly through the air.
The feeling of flying in an off road car is simply awesome, and newbies tend to love that.
Make sure you take them for a proper spin or two before taking part at your first online race.
iRacing cars cost
Each costs around $11.99 though you could save quite a bit if you purchased them in a bundle.
Though I’d not recommed you buying cars right away when getting started, after a while you could get a little more confident and get some of the better cars to start racing with.
You could also choose to wait until you have seen them in action for some months and know which ones you want to get or just stick to their free cars.
Time to wrap up:
Alright so that’s about it.
It’s time to wrap this up, but before I go let me tell you one thing:
iRacing is always expanding and new content is always being added.
So, if you’re reading this in the future, there’s a good chance that even more cars will be added by the time you’re reading this.
The ability to switch from driving a Indycar on the Indy 500 Oval to a NASCAR at the Daytona 500 is simply mind blowing, and that’s only one example.
So, if you’re looking for an online racing simulator, iRacing is definitely worth checking out.
