If you want GT3 racing today, with a full grid, real championships and a busy online scene, buy Assetto Corsa Competizione. If you want many kinds of cars in one sim, road cars, cup cars, GT2, F1, and you are fine with a game that is still being built, buy Assetto Corsa EVO. Both are made by Kunos and both cost $39.99 on Steam.
Checked on 15 October 2026 against the US Steam store and the Steam news of both games, the official ACC and Assetto Corsa EVO pages on assettocorsa.gg, and the Kunos posts up to the tyre model post of 28 September 2026. I am not giving you handling impressions of EVO here. This is what each game has, and what Kunos says about it.

Where each game stands
ACC is finished. The last paid content was the 24H Nurburgring Pack on 1 April 2024. Since then the updates have been season data and liveries: 2024 in version 1.10.3 (August 2024), and the free 2025 season in 1.10.4 on 22 December 2025, for PC on Steam. Kunos has not announced an end to support, but there has been no ACC news on Steam since. What you buy today is what you get. For a GT3 sim that is fine: the cars, the tracks and the online scene are settled.
EVO is mid build. It launched in Early Access on 16 January 2025. Version 0.9 came out on 26 August 2026 with Special Events, mandatory online pit stops and a new tyre model for racing slicks. The 0.9.1 hotfix followed on 1 September. Next is 0.10 with the first part of Free Roam, the open world around the Nurburgring, which Kunos shows at the SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt from 16 to 18 October. I track the date on my Assetto Corsa EVO Free Roam page. There is no date for 1.0 and none for consoles.
Price and DLC
Both base games are $39.99 on the US Steam store. Neither was on sale on 15 October.
ACC's nine packs at US list price: GT4 Pack $19.99, GT2 Pack $17.99, American Track Pack $17.99, Intercontinental GT Pack $14.99, British GT Pack $12.99, 2023 GT World Challenge Pack $12.99, 24H Nurburgring Pack $12.99, Challengers Pack $10.99 and 2020 GT World Challenge Pack $8.99. That is $129.91, or $169.90 with the game. Nobody should pay that. Kunos has run ACC sales of up to 70% off the game and DLC, so wait for one.
EVO has no DLC on its Steam page. Everything added in Early Access so far has been free to owners. Kunos has not said what the price will be at 1.0.
Cars: ACC is a GT game, EVO is everything
ACC has 54 cars: 31 GT3, 11 GT4, 6 GT2, 5 single make cars and one TCX car. The list with the pack for each is on my ACC cars list.
EVO's official page lists 75 entries, 51 road and 24 racing, from a Toyota AE86 to the Ferrari SF-25. All of them are on my Assetto Corsa EVO car list.
| Class | ACC | Assetto Corsa EVO | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| GT3 | 31 | 5 | assettocorsa.gg |
| GT4 | 11 | 3 | assettocorsa.gg |
| GT2 | 6 | 6 | assettocorsa.gg |
| Cup and single make | 5 | 6 | assettocorsa.gg |
| Formula | 0 | 2 (F2004, SF-25) | assettocorsa.gg |
| Road cars | 0 | 51 | assettocorsa.gg |
The GT2 class is the same six cars in both games. EVO's six cup cars include the MX-5 Cup and the Caterham Academy, which ACC does not have.

Assetto Corsa EVO GT3 cars against ACC
EVO has five GT3 cars: the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, the Ferrari 296 GT3, the Ford Mustang GT3 and the Porsche 992 GT3 R Rennsport. ACC has the Audi Evo II, the 296 and the Mustang too, plus the BMW M4 GT3 in its earlier spec. The Rennsport is the track day version of the 992 GT3 R, not the race car in ACC.
Is that enough? Not for me, not yet. When I raced GT3, the whole thing was the field. One car good on the brakes, one on traction, one in fast corners, and balance of performance pulling them close so the race comes down to tyres and traffic. Five cars do not make that grid. ACC has 31, with real teams and the GT World Challenge calendars. EVO's GT3 class may fill up before 1.0. Today, ACC has the depth.
Tracks
ACC has 25 circuits, all laser scanned, all places where GT cars race. They are on my ACC tracks list.
EVO's page lists 20 track entries, three of them on the Nurburgring: the GP track, the 24h layout and the Nordschleife. Most of EVO's circuits are in ACC too. EVO adds Fuji, Road Atlanta and Sebring. Nine ACC circuits, Barcelona, Silverstone and Zandvoort among them, are not in EVO yet.
Physics and the tyre model
ACC's physics have been settled for years. The last physics change in the notes I read was an improved damper simulation in 1.10, April 2024.
EVO's physics are still moving. Kunos' post of 28 September explains the tyre that came with 0.9:
- It applies to GT slicks only, from the MX-5 Cup to the F40 LM, including all GT2, GT3, GT4 and Cup cars.
- It needs lower slip angles, so the car responds faster to steering.
- The old tyre kept making grip the harder you drove over the limit, which made TC pointless. The new one punishes that.
- Self aligning torque in the FFB went up, so oversteer is easier to feel.
- You will likely want to start your setups again.
Kunos also writes that the problems they fixed go back "at least to ACC, if not even AC". In their words, the EVO GT tyre is meant to be a step on from ACC. Differential and aero changes are announced next.
So, if you like to build a setup and keep it for months, ACC is stable. EVO will keep changing until 1.0.
Online racing
ACC online has been mature for years: public servers, Competition servers that need a Safety Rating above 80, private servers for leagues, and platforms like Low Fuel Motorsport and SimGrid. PS5 and Xbox Series players race together. It is all in my ACC multiplayer guide.
EVO built its online in steps:
| Update | What arrived | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 0.3, 25 Sep 2025 | First multiplayer, up to 16 players, free public servers with SimGrid and LFM | Kunos news on Steam |
| 0.4, 4 Dec 2025 | Daily Racing Portal at acevo.gg, ranked splits by GridRating | Kunos news on Steam |
| 0.6, 15 Apr 2026 | Self hosted dedicated server, next to acevo-servers.com rentals | Kunos news on Steam |
| 17 Jun 2026 | EVO SR, a safety rating that rewards close clean racing | Kunos news on Steam |
| 0.8, 9 Jul 2026 | Community cars allowed on servers, with a file check | Kunos news on Steam |
| 0.9, 26 Aug 2026 | Mandatory pit stops in timed races over 20 minutes | Kunos news on Steam |
EVO SR measures time spent close to other cars without contact, instead of only counting incidents.
What EVO does not have yet is ACC's history of leagues, driver swaps and 24 hour races. For a team endurance league this winter, ACC is the safe pick.
Career and single player
ACC has Career, Championship, Free Play and Special Events against adjustable AI.
EVO removed its career in 0.5 (12 February 2026). The game loads straight into Open Mode, with Special Events and hotlap leaderboards added in 0.9. There is no career to work through today.
Wheels, FFB and VR
Both games support wheels and VR on PC. ACC lists SteamVR and Oculus. EVO lists SteamVR, Oculus and OpenXR.
EVO has had a lot of input work. 0.8 was, in Kunos' words, the most significant VR update of Early Access: foveated rendering, an eye tracked variant, a pixel density slider and its own VR settings profile. 0.9 reworked TrueForce and FullForce, added FFB recovery after a disconnect or alt tab, and an FFB curve file. 0.9.1 enabled TrackIR.
My values are on the ACC FFB settings and Assetto Corsa EVO FFB settings pages.

EVO's minimum is about ACC's recommended. If your PC is older than a GTX 1070, or has no SSD, ACC is the one that runs.
Modding
ACC takes custom liveries, not community cars or tracks.
EVO is opening up. 0.7 shipped an official car editor for single player. 0.8 let servers run community cars, with a SHA check that rejects modified versions, and added external livery creation. The posts I read do not cover community tracks.
Which one should you buy?
My opinion, based on what each game has today:
- GT3 online tonight: ACC.
- PS5 or Xbox: ACC. EVO is not on consoles.
- Endurance and team racing: ACC.
- Offline career: ACC.
- Older PC or no SSD: ACC.
- Variety, road cars, F1, Free Roam: EVO.
- The newest Kunos physics, and you enjoy testing: EVO, knowing handling and setups will change until 1.0.
Only buying one and racing GT3 most of the time? ACC, with DLC in a sale when you want a specific car.
FAQ
Is Assetto Corsa EVO better than ACC?
For GT3 racing, not today. ACC has 31 GT3 cars against 5, a full online scene and a career. EVO has more variety and a newer tyre model, but it is in Early Access on 0.9.1.
Should I buy Assetto Corsa EVO or ACC?
ACC if you race GT3, play on console, or want leagues and endurance races. EVO if you want road cars, many classes and mods, on a PC with an SSD and at least an 8 GB graphics card.
Is ACC dead?
No. You can buy it and race online, and Kunos released a free 2025 season update on 22 December 2025. But the last new cars and tracks came in April 2024.
Is Assetto Corsa EVO on PS5 or Xbox?
Not yet. It is PC only, on Steam. ACC is on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. What Kunos has said about a console version is on my Assetto Corsa EVO PS5 page.
Does Assetto Corsa EVO have a career mode?
Not at the moment. Kunos disabled it in update 0.5 in February 2026.
