Sim racing drivers are always looking for any advantage they can get over their opponents. That’s why many of them have turned to voice commands to help them in the F1 2021 game.

With voice commands, they can talk to their engineer during the lap and get information much faster than if they were fiddling with the menu.

 How to use voice commands in F1 2021?

To use a voice command in F1 2021, you have to press the corresponding button (LB on Xbox) and say one of the commands we’ve listed below.

For example when you ask “Tyre status” your race engineer will tell you the current state of your tyres both in terms of degradation and laps remaining to pit.

• Box this lap

If you’re running low on fuel or have damage, tell your engineer to box you in at the end of the current lap.

• Full race update

Your engineer will give you a quick summary of how the other cars around you are doing.

• Driver in front

Your engineer will tell you about the driver in front of you, including their position and race pace.

• Driver behind

Your engineer will tell you about the driver behind you, including their position and race pace.

• Who am I racing?

Jeff will tell you the drivers you’re racing against for position after the pit stops since some drivers may yet have to stop.

• What’s my position?

Your engineer will tell you your current position in the race.

• How many laps to go?

Your engineer will tell you how many laps are remaining in the race.

• Tyre status

Your engineer will give you a tyre update, including wear, laps on the tyres and current compound selected.

• Vehicle condition

Your engineer will give you an update on the overall condition of your car from tyre degradation to engine health.

• Weather report

Your engineer will give you the latest information on the weather conditions and what’s expected.

• Fuel information

Your engineer will give you an update on your current fuel situation and how many laps you can do before needing to pit.

• Pit stop information

Your engineer will give you an update on your current pit stop situation, including how many stops you’ve made and when the next one is due.

• Set hard tires

You can tell your engineer to change your tire strategy to use the harder compound tyres.

• Set medium tires

Jeff will change your tire strategy to use the medium compound tyres in the next stint after the pit stop.

• Set soft tires

You can tell your engineer to change your tire strategy to use the softer compound tyres.

• Set super-soft tires

You can tell your engineer to change your tire strategy to use the super-soft compound tyres.

• Set ultra-soft tires

You will change your tire strategy to use the ultra-soft compound tyres.

• Set intermediates

You can tell your engineer to change your tire strategy to use the intermediate tyres.

You can tell your engineer to change your tire strategy to use the full wet tyres in case it suddenly started to rain.

• Adjust wing up

You can tell your engineer to adjust your front wing up for more grip in the corners when the next pit stop is due.

You can tell your engineer to adjust your wing balance for more front or rear grip.

• Change wing down

You can tell your engineer to adjust your front wing down for less grip in the corners when the next pit stop is due.

Your engineer will tell you about the status of your teammate, including his position and race pace.

Voice command FAQ

Does F1 2021 have voice commands?

Yes it does, in fact you can use voice commands to ask for weather updates, tyres tatus or trigger a pit stop.

How can I talk to pit crew in F1 2021?

You just have to press the appropriate radio button and speak into your mic – the game will automatically detect and transcribe your speech. Jeff (your race engineer) will then give you a confirmation of your request and give you further instructions.

Is there voice commands on PS5?

Yes there are, the game has full voice support on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. You can use voice commands to ask for in-game information or to chat in online multiplayer events.
