It’s a question that sim racing drivers have been asking for years: is it better to use a monitor or VR headset?

There are pros and cons to both, but ultimately it comes down to your PC specs and also what you’re looking for in a sim racing experience.

If you want the most immersive and realistic experience possible, then VR is the way to go.

But if you’re looking for raw speed, stability, higher fps and performance, then a monitor will give you the edge you need unless your VR settings and PC performance allow you to get really high FPS.

So which one is actually better? Read on to find out!

What are the benefits of using VR for iRacing?

One of the biggest benefits of using VR for iRacing is that it can give you a much more immersive and realistic experience. With a monitor, you are limited to what you can see on your screen, but with VR, you can look all around you and get a much better sense of what’s going on.

This can be especially helpful in close racing situations where being able to see what’s around you can mean the difference between winning and losing.

What are the benefits of using VR for iRacing?

Another big benefit of VR is that it can help you to better understand the track.

With a monitor, it can be easy to lose the appropriate braking and turn-in points whereas with VR, you can have a much better sense of where everything is.

What are the benefits of using a monitor for iRacing?

There are a few benefits of using a monitor for iRacing that VR can’t quite match.

The biggest one is probably speed and FPS quality. With a monitor, you can typically get a higher frame rate than with VR, which can be important for drivers who are looking to shave every possible second off their lap times.

What are the benefits of using a monitor for iRacing?

Another big benefit of using a monitor is that you can see more precisely what’s on track. it VR, you are limited to what you can see in your headset, but with a monitor, you can see the entire track layout with more precision.

This can be helpful for drivers who want to take a more strategic approach to their races.

How does VR compare to using a monitor in iRacing?

Unless I’m not a big fan of it, there are several benefits of using VR for iRacing. For starters, VR provides a more immersive experience, which can make the game more enjoyable.

Additionally, VR can provide a competitive advantage for some drivers, as it can give them a more realistic view of the track.

Despite that, unless you’ve got an extremely powerful computer and spot-on headset settings, you’ll get lags and low FPS in VR which could hurt massively your performance.

That’s why I usually recommend all those who don’t have powerful PC specs to stick with a monitor. It gives you pretty much the same experience but with a much better frame rate and no lags.

VR or Monitor: what’s better for iRacing?

Short answer: it mainly depends on your PC specs.

If you’ve got a powerful PC and graphics card and you’re looking for the most immersive and realistic experience possible, then VR is the way to go. But if you’re more interested in raw speed and performance, then a monitor is the better option.

At the end of the day, it’s really up to you to decide which one is the better option for you. Try out both and see which one you prefer!
